261 rim touch up paint and repair
Hi all
I bought a set of used 261m rims and there is a rash that I'm trying to fix. According to my research, the paint is reflex silber. The paint code is most likely a44. I bought a spray can from autmotivetouchup.com but the color doesn't match. Not sure if the can is defective. I am now ordering the 1z wheel paint (similar to the wurth paint) and going to give that a try. Btw, I brought it to a wheel refinishing shop and they said it's hyper silver. They quoted me 240$ to fix one rim. They said the color is difficult to match and require a black coat first. The silver paint is also very expensive. Any truth to what they are saying?

I would believe them....I had rash on one of my front rims...took the car to the dealer 2 times for them to "fix" the problem...they used a flat-ish grey without the sparkle each time ...the last time, they sprayed the brake caliper...when I had discount tire mount my v-12's on the car a year later..the guy said...he couldn't believe how they did it ...especially from the dealer....i gave up!!! It must be either difficult or expensive..

I got one of the wheel repair kits for BMW stock wheels - I think from Barvarian Auto. Worked well, from a distance you can't tell that I really gouged 2 wheels on stone curbs.

This can't be that hard once you find the right color paint. I have been trying to find out the paint code or color for the stock style 264's on my 135i, but without much luck.
Anyone?... little help for a couple guys? Anybody?

How did the OP make out? Has anyone tried the BMW reflex silver touch up kit from BMW?
http://www.amazon.com/BMW-Touch-Up-P.../dp/B004QD87UM It says: BMW Touch-Up Paint Stick - Reflex Silver Metallic (RIM) - 1 Series 2008-2012 |

Contact these guys Alloy Wheel Repair, looks like they have a location in Toronto, they should repair it for about $100, and the paint will match perfectly.

Any of the standard silver finishes should be repairable with the right paint match. |

Give him a call I think it depends, on my last car they just masked the tire and fixed it. I took it off the car but they would have done that too.

$240 sounds high, but I have no idea about the prices in ON.
I had a few dings and rash repaired (touched up, not repainted) on 3 separate 261 rims for $150 cash total---cannot tell they ever existed, so I know they can be matched without complete re-paint. I watched them do one spot fix/paint match with my own eyes. I would search around: wheel repair guys can do this in no time for a slightly higher marginal cost versus the material cost for a DIY project. I realize this is an old thread but I'm looking at repairing my 261's in Saskatchewan. I was quoted $225 per wheel if it want the original "ghost chrome" as they called it. $150 if I get a standard colour. I really like the look of these wheels but I'm not sure if I want to pay the premium for the special paint job.
