Is Berk Race Exhaust too loud for daily driver?
Hi,
I am looking to purchase an exhaust and was deciding between the Berk Street exhaust or Berk Race exhaust. I read the Race exhaust details and it stated "Not for daily driver use." but I LOVEEE the exhaust note of it. I was wondering what the reasoning behind this was. Is it too loud for daily driving? I don't know about others, but it is hard for me to make a decision based on videos because of the quality of the videos I watch. |

While its not the Berk race exhaust, im running the Maddad street series which is also mufflerless. Stock mid-pipe - it's awesome. Loud and aggressive but no issues driving daily (both city and highway driving).

probably not a good idea to get mufflerless exhaust if you are also going to get catless dp. that would be way too loud for most people including your lovely neighbors.

after a little more research i've noticed that exhausts with no mufflers tend to be super loud. Although I like it, I really do not want them to be a burden when driving around town for work and such since it will be my DD. I'm liking the Berk Street exhausts as well as Maddad street series (thanks iainthim) even though the Maddad's have no mufflers.
One other question, I am a noob when it comes to exhausts, but what are catless downpipes/catted downpipes? |

I have the berk race exhaust no muffler and it sounds amazing, I thought it was loud when I first installed it but now that in used to it , it sounds really cool plus the price of 350 can't be beat.

Quote:
1) set of 2 catted Down Pipes (DPs) 2) set of 2 secondary cats 3) resonator / Y pipe 4) axel back muffler section -Catless DPs are just a strait pipe replacement for #1 - midpipes typically refer to strait pipes replacing #2 and #3 (although some systems may vary) My guess is that you'd be OK with a mufflerless axelback as long as your running both sets of cats and resonator, catless + mufflerless is likely pretty loud for DD (but everyone's preference is different). There are a bunch to listent to in the exhaust thread sticky, not as good as in person but can get a ballpark idea of the difference between them. Good luck. |
