Will do... the main (non-aus) thread here suggests that the tool is included in the price, and the tool can also flash it back to stock!?? If that's the case, how can I NOT buy this! (unless it's incompatible with the 125i)
I'm also wondering if it can be used on many cars, or if it arrives programmed to work with only 1 car (e.g. by VIN) Quote:

Thanks. Yeah if it can be used on other N54 cars then I will be even more interested...for example if I upgrade in the future.
If the process is really THAT easy and the results decent & safe then this tune is a 100% no brainer! |

EDIT: Set as wallpaper. My god they're fantastic on a 22" monitor. Losing a little pixelage, but it doesn't matter Group buy i'm in. Jono, let me know when you want to buy. We can install together. Perhaps an F3 trip would be in order... |

All depends on how much power we can expect. Atm I've spent about $300 for 5% power gain, so $600 for 10% power gain isn't worth it. $600 for 20% power gain though, definitely! And then I can finally say it has the same output as the 130i's N52. |

I'd be happy to be the test mule on this. I have an excellent mechanic up here on hte beaches who is now 'closed doors' - he doesn't service anything new anymore, just his usual customers. In his off days he rebuilds Monaros and Toranas for racing, hence i love visiting at service time.
He's working on my car next week, so i'll ask him about it. Before then, I shall email these guys and ask for a real Dyno graph. |

No reply yet, but Cozza got one in another thread saying that they are still working on a 125i version:

Hi Guys,
I'm a bit lost here, I am just interested in what part actually attracts you guys to this tune. Is it that you like the fact that you can get your ECU tuned via OBD? If that is the case then you could get that done locally and a tune set up for our Aus Spec cars, petrol octane etc. You would then also have local support if things went bad. Or is it that you could get a tool to flash back to stock if you wanted to as an end user. If this is the case, that is in the works and should be available locally soon as well. The thread goes a bit off the rails so sorry if i missed something or misunderstood. Andrew |

1) It gets me more power than I can get via a piggyback chip 2) I don't have to take my ECU out of the car to use it 3) I can flash it myself in my own time If it was available locally (either DIY or via a local dealer) then I'd happily buy the local product. It's just that no one in Australia seems to know diddly squat about tuning the 125i's N52 to 130i+ levels (unlike DS Motorsport and Winter Tuning in Germany) |

Andrew, the major benefit to me of a flash-tune-at-home is that I dont have to take the car apart, fiddle with the ECU etc to gain a modest amount of power. For people like me that DONT have any local support from a tuning place it's a perfect, easily accessible solution.
It is just so EASY to load one of these flashes into the OBD and remove it to go in for a service. It seems almost as easy as loading a CD into a player...true plug and play! I have been waiting ages for something like this. I'm through with my days of taking apart stuff in the engine bay just to get to a plug. Each time you fiddle you risk breaking something and it wastes too much time...I am time-poor enough as it is. With such technology available these days, this should have really been released sooner. |

1. No fucking around with the ECU compartment
2. I can do it without a mechanic or someone else's help 3. Power/Price ratio is solid. |

Thanks everyone, i thought that you guys were saying there were no options for you. I mean you can get a strong ECU flash tune for under $1500 installed and if anyone wants it done in Melbourne, let me know
I'll keep an ear out for the flash at home market out there. |

However you would need to be competitive with OETuning's price point, i.e. under $800 landed. |

So each time you go in for a service on your car, you will have to drive 20+ hours to get it flashed back to stock, risk speeding tickets, stone chips, hitting roos etc? Then you would have to pay for overnight accomodation, fuel, account for wear and tear on car...all for 15-20 HP....
(This is why a flash-at-home solution is just so convenient). |

i would only make the trek down if i got at least 40hp out of it
but yeah actually you make a good point, i wouldn't want to risk going in to service with the tune on. so flash-at-home it is! |

Finally got a response back from OETuning - for our N52, the gain will obviously be more like the 325i results rather than the 128i which means 9kW and 15Nm.
