ECU wiring

A long time ago I used to keep these things running for a living. The wiring mods for the Procede/Xcede units are pieces of cake in comparison. But if you've never done any electronics wiring before - best do a dry run and have a well written out plan, and/or ensure somone you trust is helping you the first time you crack it open. It'd be a real shame to end up with nothing more than a $36,000 piece of garage art. ; -)

In this case, so have the other players in this tuning market: AA, Dinan, Vishnu. For BMW turbocharged expertise, none has as much experience as Dinan.

the SSTT doesnt involve going into your ECU and messing with those wires, this is a very big advantage compared to the JB. there is alot of people who dont like the idea of messing with the ECU wires esp since bmw is becoming and has become more invovled with there tunning eye.
Of course. But JB2 also does one more trick than SSTT: fuel trimming - better for running low octane gas, IMO. And it's cheaper.

I think I outlined the pros and cons accurately in my previous post, not necessarily extolling the virtues of one single item.

For people not liking to mess with wiring and who don't want to have warranty issues, Dinan is the only way to go: nothing to install or remove, more power, far better tuning, more reliability, etc.

Eh, I have my doubts about that, but I don't have any vested interest so... :iono:

The cleverest thing the Dinan does is to speed up the waterpump to avoid overheating on hard boost. That, coupled with their positively huge oil cooler, should be just what's needed for those who will track their cars.

Correct, by far Dinan will and probably is the best tunning option for a high PSI tune out there. it changes more parameters than any other tuner out there for the N54.

Dinan calims a 13.2 psi jump but it is not know from where and how this is measured. from what i have seen, dinan makes a bit more TQ than the SSTT and JB2, but about as much HP as them.
btw if anyone is interested, a jb2 already has raced a dinan flashed car, u can find it on e90post.
Dinan might not be the best for leased cars, as this is violating your lease terms and on a dealer to dealer bases if they will except the flashed car back, unless you own the car its a option.

i have seen personal dynos done with the JB2 and SSTT, the JB2 runs a bit more richer at around 2k-3k, the SSTT seems to run a bit richer at 5K, all other areas they are the same as far as AFR. as for power numebrs there pretty much identical.
but im not here to compare tunes, im sure there is gonna be a bunch of those threads to come this summer

The SSTT looks like a good way to go. When your car is due in for a service, just take it off. I hope a version 2 is coming.

Just watched the Juice Box install on Youtube, looks like a pain in the ass, definitely won't be taking it on and off for service visits.

The SSTT sounds even easier to install on the 135i, due to more finger room around the connector. Just have to unscrew the bottom aero pan, nothing really. A little more install time, but sounds easier. Not anywhere near as much work as the JB.

Personally, I'll be going with Helix, given my proximity to their facility. Their posting the biggest gains helps the case too, heh.

SSTT and JB2 are good options as well, and add a lot of power for not a lot of coin.

ALL PIGGYBACKS ARE TRACEABLE THROUGH THERE DIAGNOSTIC SOFTWARE.THE INFORMATION DOES NOT POP UP AT THE DEALER DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT BUT THE DIAGNOSTIC SOFTWARE ON ALL CARS GETS SENT TO TO BMW WHERE THEY CAN SEE FAULTS AND STATUS' THAT THE TECHS CAN'T.TRUST ME!!!MY BRO IS A BMWW TECH AND HAS WITNESSED FIRST HAND.IF YOU GUYS HAVE ANY QUESTTIONS PM ME AND I CAN ASK HIM.

I actually just got the JB2 installed last Saturday and saw the installation first-hand. Terry did the install for me. Besides the fact that you will have to take off the ECU lid cover, it is a rather simple install. The JB2 wires are color coded (duh, haha) and it really is just taking out one wire and plugging in the JB2 wire, and connecting a couple wires. Seemed like something even a girl like me could do!

How did you get Terry to install if for you? Did you go to the Valley to get it done? I'd be interested if it wasn't for the install.

Terry needed a 135i to install the JB2 for himself. And yes, I drove to the valley to get it done
