Lexus IS copies more from 5 series than 3 series?

Today I was looking at a black Lexus IS350 from a rear corner view. The first thing that came to mind was the total ripoff of BMW style. Next came to mind how similar the lines are to the 5 series. That giant crease right below the window on the IS350 and 5 series are so similar its ridiculous. The exagerated slope of the windows from the front to back is extremely 5 series ish aswell. The tail lights are similiar, too. Don't get me wrong, I think the IS is a sick lookin car...so is the five series...Its just that today i noticed that the IS seems to take more design aspects from the 5 series rather than the 3 series. Does this IS have any personality of its own. It looks like a Hyundai, Pontiac, and BMW all at the same time.

Just thought I'd share my opinion and see what others thought...

i think the Lexus copy cats have really adapted the bmw lines of the 5 series for the is series. even , the new LS400 and the GS300 have several bmw lines. there is no doubt, that lexus top brass want to have the bmw sporting appeal and the luxury and prestige of mercedes benz.

I think the IS350's rear looks like the Toyota Corolla!!!! Parts of the IS350 sort of reminds me of the Mazda 3 from some angles. That is why the BMW has its originality. Our Beamers do not copy others and we set the trend too.

All cars look like some other car in one way or another.

Look at the WRX Sti's rear tail lights. What does that remind you of?

This is a 'subjective' thread to say the least. All car brands are looking more and more alike. For example, the E 90 from the rear looks very much like a three=quarter scale two year old Taurus (discontinued car line). BTW, Beamers have two wheels. <g>

I think some folks on this site do a little too much Lexus bashing ... makes you all seem insecure about something ... wonder what that is?
