tire size selection for 261M on the track

Hey guys,

I am having some hard time to select the size for track. I am planning to use the OEM 261m wheel to track.
Currently have the 255/35/18 RS3 sitting in the garage.
But heard that 235 square set up is better than 225 front and 255 rear.
What do you guys think? Thinking to buy another set to 235 AD08, and sell the RS3.

mm... What I heard is car is really under for 225/255 set up. Square set up will make the understeering better. Maybe I should try this set up first. Maybe run square in the future. (plus rs3 wear out extremely fast)

The right choice depends on what you are going for. By having smaller front tires versus rear tires will make your car more prone to understeer. I noticed this most in turns that are tight, low speed corners. Having similar or near similar sized tires front and rear will help you equalize the balance front to rear. Since the 261M wheels run 7.5" wide in the front and 8.5" in the rear, and you think you would like to run square, then you are limited to a 235 front and rear like you said. You may want to explore the option of just minimizing the tire offset by running a 235 in the front and a 245 in the rear (versus another 235 in the rear) because you can't rotate your wheels and tires anyway with the stock wheel sizing and the 245 will help you put the power down a bit better than a 235.

Can you fit a 235 up front?

235/255 can be a a nice combo.

In this setup with no camber plates you will experience a bit understeer turning into the corner.

Without managing your foot your tail will swing out during exit. "Traction Off btw.."

A 235 will fit on a 7.5" wheel. It will be a bit large in relation to the wheel, but it will work. Clearance from the strut should be fine and same goes for the fender. I ran a 245 up front within factory alignment specs with no wheel spacer, fender roll or pull required. Not on OEM wheels though.

think will go with 235/245 AD08 set up. Probably need to remove the 10mm Front spacer and 5mm rear spacer for this set up.
