One year has passed, should I wait for 15k or service it?
so one year passed at the beginning of july, and i have nothing but positive things to say about this car
i've been busy modding and driving the hell out of it and my appreciation and love for this car continues to grow with time so my question to the group is, i am inches away from 12k miles, should i take it in for the one year service or wait for 15k? keep in mind that i DIYd oil changes at 1200 and 7000 miles.

You paid the premium for this BMW that included free servicing every year so I would take it in. I change my oil every 3,000 miles as well but I paid for it and will get what I paid for.

I got a reminder phone call and email from the dealership when I got to almost a year. They were counting from when I paid for it (July 1) and I was counting from when I got PCD (July 21). I had about 3,000 miles on the oil from my second oil change at the time but I let them do it. In addition to the fact that it is "free", it saves any hassle about the warranty.
I wish I had asked what else it needed when I called to set up the appointment. They wanted to redo the software (2-4 hours) and then they found a recall or something on the tail lights they needed to order parts for. If you ask and are fortunate, maybe you can get them to be ready to do everything in one trip. Jim

same with me... bought the car used CPO in Jan 2010..cars one year anniversary was July6...took it in that week at 10,500 miles and had the oil changed, all recalls updated....everything else is fine as the HPFP issue was cleared up in March.....I TOTALLY do not agree with BMW's 15,000 mile service oil plan and will be changing mine next time with the BMW OIL kit i just bought from Dan at United BMW in-between the intervals. Generally i have alway's changed my oil in every other car at 5000 miles and 3-4000 with Synthetic especially on my last Turbo that had issues with gas/oil dilution if you did not change it often...And yes my last Turbo was a DI like the 135i....like my Honda service rep alway's told me ...change your fluids more frequently the better just a little added insurance...especially if you plan on keeping the car like i do..it's not leased...

not at all lol..
I wouldn't remove a DCI, Intercooler, or Downpipes for service. Just a Tune. and maybe a methanol tank.

I recently took my car in for its 15k 2 year service...actually waited till my computer said "BRING ME IN!"
This included oil/filter change, r/r wiper blades, check brakes, flush/fill with new brake fluid. I got to drive a 2009 335xi coupe for a day and when I got my car back, they replaced my cracked 3rd brake light and checked out some issues i've had with Comfort Access. Bring it in and be pampered!

When I hit my 1 year I had 14k miles on the odometer. The countdown said I had 3000 miles until my first oil change was necessary. They did the 1 year oil change and said they don't reset the countdown, so I'm about to go in for another for free!
