E93 M3 rear sway bar bushing part numbers
I need help from the bimmerpost crowd. I think the BMW catalog does not have the right part numbers for the E93 M3 rear sway bar bushings. The part numbers listed by BMW are 33552283709 & 335522837010.
Those part numbers are the same ones listed for the E90 and E92 M3 rear sway bar. The E90/E92 M3 rear sway bar is 20mm and the E93 M3 is 23.5mm. I find it hard to believe that BMW uses the same bushing for two very different sized sway bars. The front sway bar for the E90/E92 M3 is 26.5mm and the E93 M3 is 28mm. BMW uses different bushings for them and the difference is only 1.5mm. Seems unlikely that they would use the same bushing for bars with a 3.5mm difference. The bushings are a very hard rubber so getting them to "fit" with the E93 rear bar is difficult. It took a press and quite a bit of work to get them to fit around the bar. The front bushings only required a little bit of force applied by hand to get them to fit around the bar correctly. So call me skeptical, but my theory is that BMW has the wrong part numbers listed for the E93 rear sway bar bushings. It would not be the first time that has happened. I would like to know what the proper part numbers are for my own sanity and so future E93 M3 rear sway bar buyers can get the right parts and avoid the pain I did. Problem is I have no idea who can tell me the correct part numbers. Ideally I can find some E93 M3 owner who is replacing their rear bar or a German working at the factory who can get their hands on what is being installed at the factory. They must be using the correct parts at the factory. Other than that I have no idea how to find out the real part numbers. Any help would be appreciated. |

Harold is the one I bought the bushings from.
He only has the part numbers from the BMW catalog. He has been doing the same thing my mechanic did which is use some serious force to get them on. While it can be done, I doubt it is correct. |

Ok, I checked RealOEM... yea... same part numbers, like you said. Don't know what to say. I would call Harold @HP.
Only thing I can think of... is I know a friend of mine who used to slightly "cook" his sway bar bushings in boiling water to make them fit over the sway bar ends. It worked for him. |
