I would say in a big city with stop start traffic around 14l/100km driven easily. Drive it hard and you could easily reach 18-20l/100km - LOTS!!!

country driving would reach around the same as the 330 as the turbos would not be used, although the engine is different to the N52.

Really the numbers are moot as one would really enjoy throwing this car around, making use of the turbos when they could. Enjoy the car and not worry about fuel consupmtion too much.

The official data for euro versions are about 25 mpg (US) or 10l/100km. Roughly !0% worse than current N52 330, 25% worse than new generation DI N53 330.

I have been interested, obsessed, with this car for over a year now. It's bodering on pathological. And there is only one cure...

Actually, if you compare the UK specs for 335i (19.8mpg city/42mpg hwy. for the 6spd M) to the E90/330i, the 335i highway mileage is better than the 330i. The combined city/highway mileage for the 335i is as stressdoc stated slightly worse than the 330i. But hey, on the highway the 335i will be frugally thrilling !! Compared to a guzzling M3, it will be an ecostar and almost as quick !

I would only imagine that it would be slightly worse than the 330i. It does have turbo so I could see a decrease unless you drive the car like a grandma.

Wow, I do a lot of highway driving and the 42 MPG sounds pretty incredible!

No way will that get 19 in the city and 42 on the highway. I'm thinking they meant 24...

Since it is a DI engine that runs more efficiently than the N52, I would think that the economy would equal the 330.

N54 DI turbo = N52 naturally asperated.

The Direct Injection cancels out the turbos loss in MPG.

To clarify, the mpg figures that I quoted are for imperial gallons, not US gallons, so you must do the conversion for US figures.
By converting the UK specs to US, the 335i mileage fuel consumption figures for US gals are :
city 16.5 mpg
combined city/hwy 24.6 mpg
highway 35 mpg

35 is still pretty good...16.5 is pretty bad...must be the additional torque...

I would like to see some real figures supporting that.
