angel eye upgrade

I have done a ton of searching on this topic, but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.

I'm kind of tired of the yellowish look of the angel eyes on my 135 and was thinking about upgrading them to something that looks whiter and brighter. Does anyone have any recommendations on which product to go with? Pics would be helpful too.

Also, how difficult are they to install? I hope you don't have to open up the headlights to do this, since I don't really want to mess with this.

Any info on this would be appreciated.

Hey man.
The best/brightest for the cash are a pair of 14$ GP Thunder super whites (8500k i think?)
I've got them in my car right now and they look great and are actually very bright for cheap bulbs. I've gotten not error codes or anything. They're very easy to install (easier than an E92). Open your hood and you'll see those clips holding the housing in behind the headlight housing. Unclip them to the sides, take off the back casing, unscrew the H8 bulb, unplug the bulb, plug in the new one, and screw it back in. Then clip the housing back on. Takes 10 minutes. Make sure you don't actually touch the bulbs and that they lock in all the way. There is a DIY somewhere in the DIY section that I used.

in direct sunlight id say theyre about 85% as bright as stock and at night/in overcast they seem brighter. For some reason the lights are much brighter on my car than my friends E92. Especially the inner ring.

thanks, received them from my friend who previously had them on his E92 for a very short time. I believe he bought them from **********s or another vendor on here.

anyways, he told me they're actually 7500ks.
http://www.amazon.com/GP-Thunder-SGP...6670659&sr=8-1

OR you can get the 8500k's
http://www.amazon.com/GP-Thunder-Pla...6670482&sr=8-1

Which for some reason are much cheaper.

I bought the PIAA's extreme white 4,150k for $70 and am unhappy to say that mine are definitely better than stock yellow but not as white as yours and not nearly as cheap.

The install is just as easy as mentioned above and is exactly as described. No lights will come on as the PIAA's draw the same volts. If you use something different than that then light will illuminate on the dashboard.

According to the **********s website. 7500K is more white and 8500K is more of a blue-ish white color

You need just 2 bulbs. Each bulb will light up the DRL and parking light halo ring. Pretty neat, huh? Two for price of 1.

7500k is whiter and brighter. You need TWO bulbs. Each pair of corona rights are illuminated by a single bulb in the centre set of headlights.

They are literally USD$15 from E92-lighting and **********s.

Okay thanks guys.
So i ordered it and since I am located in Canada, i chose international shipping. It does not show the cost, but being excited I already confirmed the order, any idea how much the shipping for mod bargains is ?

I got quoted USD$25 including shipping to Australia. I believe shipping to Canada would be significantly cheaper

Anybody know how these compare to the WeissLicht LED upgrade kit sold by Bimmian? The Weisslichts are considerably more expensive, but I'm willing to spend the extra cash if they look that much better.

Cost has nothing to do with performance.
My friend got BMS LED's on his car for 110 and was extremely unhappy. They looked significantly worse than the GP thunders. Cheap LED's have harnesses that need to be used and often burn out quickly. I would definitely stay away. Not sure about weisslecht but this goes for most cheap leds

The next best thing is LUX or OSS which run in the 400+ dollar range.

Hey twoturboz,

Can you post a picture of your car in the sunlight with the langel eyes on. That would help us out a bunch!

H8 LED Angel Eye Ring Marker Bulb

Are these what I should get to upgrade my halos to the super bright LEDs? Anyone purchase this same model and have any pix or reviews?

I'm not positive those work on a 1 series. like i said above, i think its a bad idea to purchase cheap leds because they blow out and throw codes. most are disappointed. my friend got some new ones and they blew out on the way home on one side

brighter better halos?

$14 for the GP lights is a great price but in the pics posted above the halos seem brighter than stock but not necessarily whiter to me...?

OSS seems to be the best quality option although too pricey at over $500
what do you think about the weisslicht upgrade? $150 and with a 1 year warranty...their halos seem to be very white- is it similar to the "cheap LEDs" like the piaa h8 i posted in my last thread? I just want them to look exactly (as close to) the stock 2011 3 and 5 series halos...If the GP lights are whiter I'm in..I'm just not sure from looking at those pix if they truly are whiter or just brighter...

http://www.jlevistreetwerks.com/p420...duct_info.html

...the led halos from my past post supposedly do fit on a 1 series but they come with no warranty at all...dont wanna pay $100 and have them burn out soon after I get them...Weisslicht seems to back their product up quite nicely...??
