jb+ is substantially down on power compared to the jb4/proceed and cobb tune for pump gas and only a dci/catback

Yeah I know that...but you don't want all the bells and whistles...I guess you just want whatever makes the "most" power? In that case I think both piggybacks should be about equal...and any tune that reflashes your ECU should be roughly equal as well....

what makes the most sense for a car that will not see meth, or downpipes or big turbo's
my consideration factors are ease of installation, features and cost, if cobb gives up some critical feature to another, then I should just get a piggyback if the end result is pretty close for a relatively stock car, then the cobb's ease of installation is a clear winner for me but does the cobb do lagfix?

^^^I cannot comment on whether the Cobb does lagfix or not...I guess you could email them and find out though. It seems to me for your purpose that a ECU reflash would be the best bet..so you could "set it and forget it"......

everyone has their opinion and most of us are tired of arguing about it....but since you mentioned wanted to know which wast fastest
this would probably be the best spot to look http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW--135i-Drag-Racing.html http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW--335i-Drag-Racing.html Personally...the piggys are better proven as of yet on our cars. Flashes are always nice, but these aren't your normal piggyback tuners. You can't beat the customer service you get with the JB...i don't know how they put so much time into helping everyone honestly. As for most of the advantages you hear about one over the other...make sure you understand what the catching names we have for things around this community actually refer to.....and how/if they do anything you should consider. You'll be happy anyway you go.....other than DINAN...

Here is another one for you to look at
Top Drag times and Dyno numbers: http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9170 It was last updated in December, which I think is fine considering that there was probably not a lot to report over the winter. Also, with the JB4 just coming out, it has just JB3 and others.

^^^Not good example IMHO as N54tech is controlled by Terry/Mike and company so there is an inherent bias....

These threads are pointless. Everyone is going to be bias based on what tune they have. For me I love my procede, the next guy loves his JB and so on. I highly doubt many people here can say they have accurately tested the different tunes and make a educated comment on it.
PS: Procede FTW, LOL

From my understanding you don't need a band-aid like "lag-fix" when you're reflashing the ECU with a new map. Dinan, GIAC and all the other flashes don't have a "lag-fix" because they aren't tricking the stock programming like piggy backs do. Its a whole new map all together, so there is no "lag" to fix.
