Nobody here a fan of the Hartge diffuser?

I contacted one of the Hartge stockists - apparently I can only purchase the diffuser if i buy their exhaust - I am looking at a custom exhaust though. So this eBay one might be my only choice, as I have no idea where else to get this style... Anyone tried the above link or know where I can get a good rep, seeing as I can't get a genuine?

No mentioning of fitment quality, no close-up pics of fitment on car. I'd say stay away.

Unless you have a Hartge exhaust, or a custom one built exactly like one, then this diffuser will not fit.

But if you can afford a real Hartge exhaust, then you have the coin to afford an authentic Hartge diffuser to go with it.

You can buy this diffuser on its own here in the UK, will require a custom exhaust though...but the diffuser is genuine at least.

A member on here has this diffuser, whit 135i with custom rear spoiler. He has a custom quad which looks great but the pics behine the diffuser show a tight fitment so you better use a good exhaust fabricator.

Thanks for that guys, as always a big help. Yip it's going to be a custom fabricated exhaust, and the guy has had a look and knows it will be tight, but he reckons he can hack it - Battery box is the worry.

And thanks JamJay, I have emailed them awaiting a reply on a quote. Been looking everywhere for someone who will sell me just a diffuser. Although, I know I am going to be paying Hartge prices for Hartge quality!

Regards to you all

Hi makkasteez

Yes I did actually. No vendor was prepared to sell me the genuine diffuser without the $3000 exhaust system, so I got the eBay one instead. I havn't mounted it yet, but it looks quite good for the price. Finish is gloss black (my option) and it is quite good, I'd rate the finish an 8.5 or 9 out of 10. The exhaust shop seems to think it should go on just fine when they looked at it. I am booked in to get the exhaust made and fitted in 2 weeks time.
For the time being, here are some photos of the diffuser itself. sorry they're indoor iPhone ones. Note the "HARTGE" stamped into the diffuser with the Hartge part number too - seems this was modelled off a genuine diffuser...

Yea, that actually looks pretty good. If the fitment is spot on then you got yourself a great deal. Is it an exact replica of the Hartge diffuser?

No Problems! This forum has given me alot, so, time to give back i think...

He only charged me an extra US$30 for the gloss black paint. shipping was around $40 i think? And it only took about a week and a half to arrive here in Australia.

so all up maybe around $280 landed and painted, not bad. Let's just hope it fits come install day! From looking at pics it seems to be identical to the genuine Hartge diffuser.

Yes I will definitely post up pics once installed. We will probably be using a magnaflow resonator as part of the axle-back system. i have some pics of the Hartge quad exhaust and will get him to model my custom system on that.

Subscribing....

Seems like you've found a great way to get into quad exhaust. I hope it works out for you, because it will work out for the rest of us who are interested!

I was planning on going with the Hartge diffuser + quad exhaust setup, but when i talked to my exhaust guy, he told he it would be a 400$-500$ job...so i bailed . When you do install it, can you take pictures of the under tray so we can see how the exhaust is setup, thanks!

Hi Tycho. On Friday the exhaust shop custom-fabricated an axle back system for me. Looks great. However, the diffuser needed a slight modification of the tabs that allow it to slot into the bumper. I have taken pics of it all (exhaust, mod to the diffuser etc) and will post them up as soon as I get to my desktop. Btw, my custom axle-back cos tme $1,100 fitted. And when you compare it to Inside-performace etc, that is cheap. And because its custom, I got them to do exactly what I wanted in terms of muffler, piping layout, tip diameter and style, etc. so to me it was worth it.

In all honesty, the mod to the diffuser is actually simple, but will require you to be handy with epoxy and a scissor and a ratchet driver. On test fit it looks fantastic! in any case, the exhaust shop couldn't mod the diffuser for me so they rebolted my stock exhaust and diffuser on and now that I've modded it, I will take it back to get the exhaust bolted. Once on I will take pics too and post those up. That should happen around Tues/Wed.
