Got my Enkei PF01's mounted with Hankook V12 K110's, and did a before and after weight. Saved almost 18lbs on the pair of fronts and just over 25lbs on the pair of rears. No pics as it's dark and I just got them put on but maybe in a couple of days. And that is rotating and unsprung weight, so a double whammy. Will have to g-tech the car to see if there is any difference. A few calc's show that I should be able to shave 0.25s or so off the 0-60.

Going to have to wait for pics. Just put them on last night in the dark and it is cloudy/rainy out today. Sorrrrryyyy. I started this thread more for the weight aspect than the look aspect but I can understand!

Like mentioned, they are et42 with an 8" width, so that puts the fronts out a bit more (maybe 1/2" or 13-14mm) and the rears are out maybe a bit less than a 1/4" or 6mm from stock. The BMW centers don't fit but Enkei provides a reasonable looking cap.

I figure with the reduced offsets and the common 8" width, this should go in the right direction to minimizing understeer, and I just went up to the 225's on the front and left the rear width stock with the same intention. I'm more interested in balance than outright grip. A bit at a time. Will report out more as I get some miles on them.

Very, very Nice! I was looking superlight then I found my setup. You've got me beat by a lb or two per corner I guess, especially in the rear.

Not that you want to go this way but you'd drop a few more lbs per corner if you went with Generals. I was shocked when I researched tires how much lighter they were than the rest. I think the Hankooks were close to the top of the lightweight list also though. I'd keep the Hankooks, probably a much better tire.

How are you figuring this? Did you have the exact same tires fitted to each set of rims and compare the weight of each set with the tires mounted?

What style stock rims did you have?

Used a bathroom scale - so I know that accuracy may be somewhat off - maybe 10% worse case. But I repeated weighings and the scale was at least repeatable after repeat tries. And according to the TireRack site the combination should be close to 40lbs lighter (and the numbers on my scale for the old set were pretty close to what figures for the stock wheels/tires have been quoted on this site...)

Took the original wheels/tires off and weighed them one unit at a time. Then I took the new wheel/tire assembly and weighed it before putting them on. There's about 4000km of wear on the original tires so maybe a few tenths of a pound of weight gone there - but they were slightly dirty too, so call it a tie.

Note that the front tire size is a 225 vs a 215 stock, and the new rims are 8" so, that is 1/2" bigger than stock on the fronts, and 1/2" smaller than stock on the rears.

A rough calculation also shows this is about the same as taking ~240lbs of static weight off the car.

As for pics - those are the only ones I have but I couldn't upload them in their original size, about 4Megs, without the site saying no can do. Too bad because the pic's look better than what I was able to upload.

edit - original rims were the 264's(?) I believe. What comes stock with the M Sport pkg on a 2009 NA 135.

NP on the bathroom scale, that should be plenty accurate all things considered. I know the 264\RFT combo is heavy as lead. Pretty though...

Yep, you got it right. The 264's do look nice, but heavy. That's what my wife says about me!

Sorry to be a PITA, but what are the actual weights of the new Tires/Wheels according to your scale?? I see differences, but no weights. and I'm to lazy to calc.

Stock 264 w/ Bridgestone should be F:48.2lbs R:52.2lbs each.

So new should be F: 39.2lbs R: 40lbs?? back calculating the difference.

Or adding the weights online I get.... F: 18.2+23=41.2 and R: 18.2+22=40.2 ..... Close enough.
