I'm glad your car is okay, but this thread backs up my belief that
there is no need to clay a clean, new car!

the only reason and the big reason you clay a new car is rail dust!!!! Basically the metal dust / splinter work themselves into the paint. They then begin to rust and show rust spots all over your car. The longer the rail dust is on your paint the deeper the dust will travel. There is no way to be sure that your new vehicle has not been expossed to these elements this is why you clay a new car. Chris

I never dilute a lubricant with water while using a clay bar. I have been using clay for about 3 years now, on all my cars and motorcycles and have never had a scratch from it. I use car soap and do not dilute it, pour it over the section that I am going to clay and just glide the clay in straight lines over the surface. I'm sure that you do not want to go in circles w/ the clay, rather unpand down. I use 3M products, but I'm not sure if that makes a difference.
