automatic climate control
We already discussed about it but the thread was lost with the website shutdown
This morning was cold around +2 Celsius but it took only a few minutes (less then 5) to have hot air I was surprised to see how fast it works because the engine didn t had time to warm up. In my previous car I had to wait longer. Is there an electrical heater or something to warm up the cabin before the engine gets hot? |

Most modern cars will use the A/C compressor, taking the hot air created by it to run the heat. Some use it only until the engine warms up enough, some use it all the time. Not sure yet which way the BMW does it because it's just not starting to get cool here. I prefer the former method because I hate running the A/C compressor in winter all the time.
This is the one time that I really miss the temp guage in the instrument cluster. I like to wait until the needle starts to move (indicating that the engine is warming) before I turn on the heat. In the E90 it's a guessing game.

While were on the subject, is there a way of controlling both sides of the auto climate control with one knob? It's annoying having to set both sides of the cabin to the same temperature. My tsx had one knob that controlled both sides unless you touched the other side.

I don t think that you can control both sides with the same knob.
I t s not mentioned in the manual and if there is one way to do it I still didn’t find it. May be with the idrive? (I don t have it) |

So, to make it short: I don't think you can adjust it with just one knob.

Yesterday my wife turned up the heat on the passenger side and I turned down the temp on my side. A low pressure system developed over my arm rest and a tornato wiped out my back seat. Bummer

No electrical heater, but an electrical water pump and variable ratio oil pump, aids in the car heating up so quick, the timing etc... is also adjusted to heat things up quicker! Reason why it is not rec'd to "warm" the car up... there is no need to! Best of luck!
