Ordering parts from the USA

We all know how expensive it can get with brokerage fees and taxes etc.

Has anyone found a good company or way to ship parts to Canada. For example tire rack adds all taxes and fees so at least you know the final bill up front

Cheers

We here in Ottawa use the UPS Store in Ogdensburg NY. Hopefully someone will pipe in with info for you using Champlain or Rouses Point NY. Taxes and duty [if applicable] still have to be paid but service is fast.

I use the UPS Customer pickup counter in Bellingham WA. Most times the Canada Customs wave you through the border crossing if the amount is under $200, so you will save HST/GST. And I can fill up with gasoline and save about 25% on the tankful to make up for the trip. If travel to the USA is not possible. ask the shipper to use US Postal Service. It takes a little longer but you will save on the brokerage fees, as Canada Post only charges $10 or so. You will still have to pay HST/GST,

A way to save the 'brokerage' fee is to ask the vendor to ship USPS (United States Postal Service). It won't work for large things like tires, but for smaller stuff, it will flip over to Canada Post once it hits our border and there's not the insane brokerage fee.

If any duty / taxes owing, you just pay it when you pick up at the post office.

I've had large heavy things shipped without paying brokerage.
UPS is not bad if you know how to use them.
Ask sender to ship you via UPS and tell him to give you track number.
Call UPS and tell them you will clear the item yourself. They will call you when the item arrives. If you are in Montreal, the UPS depot is in Lachine off hwy 13 & 20. When you get there, they will give you the paper work to go clear the item yourself at the border office....located also in Lachine less than 5 mins away from the depot. Just go there to pay taxes if applicable and get the paperwork stamped. Go back and get your item.
DONE! I've shipped wheels, bumpers, exhaust manifolds....like this and never pay duty.
Or use USPS if its a small item that's under $100. That will be completely free.
UPS is good because they're relatively fast and at least their track number actually tracks the package...unlike USPS/Canada Post.
