Lowering springs
Years ago I had a JCW Mini which had the AC Schnitzer springs installed on it. This gave the car a really nice flat feeling when cornering.
Now obviously the 1M is a completely different animal, but I'm wondering if people are fitting lowering springs to their cars at all? The reason I ask is that I'm getting the geometry set up on the car shortly and wondered if there was any merit in adding some lowering springs at the same time. Failing that, is the general consensus to go with something like a full coil-over kit? I should just point out that I've not yet found the stock handling a problem with the car. The reason for the new geo setup is to give the car a bit more bite when putting the power down. However I'm curious to hear the views on here about lowering springs / coil-over kits? Cheers |

Just to add, I have already read this thread:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=780238 ...and I'm still not sure where to buy the H&R springs in the UK (Eibach appears to be covered though). |

I've discussed this with a well respected contributor to this very forum. The springs aren't the issue Chris, it's the damping rates.
Overall the car's suspension is "reasonable" for most UK roads (and brilliant on smooth European tarmac) but expose it to our bumpier, poorly surfaced B roads and it all starts to go awry. I'm hoping to address the shortcomings with something more bespoke in the next week (if it's ready) If you're interested, drop me a PM with your Email address and I'll update you. |

I have the Eibachs on mt 1M and we've now fitted them to 6 others in the UK all with glowing reports on improved ride quality, handling and looks.
We have another 1M booked in tomorrow morning for Eibachs, Alignment, modified front arch liners and N55 mid pipe. If you're ever in the Cheshire area you are more than welcome to come and see mine in the flesh and have a trip out. Chris

I've had H&Rs on for a few hundred miles and have nothing negative to say, I expected a small increase in harshness over bumps with them but actually I sense the opposite, it seems as smooth or better, very happy and looks great.
