235/265 on OEM wheels

I know of 1 member here who runs these sizes and is very happy. Anyone else care to weigh in? I know minimum suggested wheel width is 1/2 inch wider for both. Discounting the potential of the sidewalls to roll over a bit during high performance driving, are there other issues to be concerned about? I'm looking for as much traction as I can get with my tune and mods, and would prefer to not spend the $ for new wheels. PSS are my tire of choice.

Thanks guys!

John

You can actually lose traction by going wider if you bulge the tires too much. You also lose steering feel and increase slip angle, making the car feel numb. You can cause faster wear, costing you in the long run.

I wouldn't recommend exceeding the tire manufacturers wheel width range. Maybe consider picking up a set of Apex ARC-8 or EC-7 wheels at some point if you really want to maximize grip. You'll also cut a lot of weight.

Bingo. There's no point in pinching too wide of a tire onto a narrow wheel in a street tire application. Besides, if you just want straight line traction, you need more sidewall not just more width.
