Taking E82 N54 tracking; concerned about oil pressure, oil starvation
Headed to Thunderhill in a week and am concerned about suffering low oil pressure and oil starvation in the engine, as a few have reported.
Anything I can try to do to prevent this? Just take it easy on my first day? Should I take it really easy in the corners until I get an oil baffle?

There are countless people that track their E9X's and E8X's with N54's without ever hearing of these problems. That includes myself.

Oil temps should be more of a concern than starvation.
I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you are running slicks. |

My only main issue tracking my n54 was heat soak. The throttle gets really soggy as temps get up there.
Thunder hill is a great track. Have fun. |

Co-signed, proof of oil starvation issues? I've trakced the bejesus out of my 1er, and the only "starvation" that I have ever experienced was fuel starvation when a session went longer than expected and I used over a 1/3rd of a tank and fuel starved around the last corner at the end of the session. Car limped, coasted off track to the on-location fuel station and added a few gallons. Thanked my lucky stars the HPFP/LPFP didnt die.

With my One I was always told to check my oil between sessions, and make sure you keep the oil topped off. This was running on a skid pad for 3 or 4 cycles.

get an Accusump...
For cars that will see lots of track use... your best bet is to use something like an Accusump from Canton. It will maintain your oil pressure in the event of a sudden loss of oil pressure. It can also be used to pre-pressurize your engine for oil - BEFORE you start it up.
http://www.accusump.com/accusump_tech.html For just a day at the track... I would change your oil & filter before you go... make sure your oil is at the proper level. Also bring some extra oil bottles with. And enjoy your day at the track. I would also change your oil & filter after you get back from the track. Dack
