Halo Rings / Angel Eyes pictures and info
Here are the pics
1: Passenger side headlight, camera facing forward. You can see the cap that covers the bulb. There are locking tabs on top and below the cap. 2: You can see the light bulb. Its attached with a torx screw at each side. The green wire is power, the brown is ground. 3: View after light bulb is removed. You can see the two plastic halo ring feeds. 4: Lens and Lens mount on left and bulb on right. This sits between the bulb and the halo rings. I'm not quite sure what its there for. 5: Lens detail 6: Bulb detail 7: Bulb detail 8: Bulb detail I'm currently working on an LED setup. I will keep you posted.

So you trying to achiave the "Brex" look without changing the light filter (PMB aproach), but changing the actuall light output? Very brave, I'd say very smart. Since LED use lower wattage, the car will think that the bulb burned out. Anyway good luck!

It's not hard to find LED that consume/output 21 watts, just they will be bright as headlights and you won't be able to see halos clearly. |

I'm sure longtran know, that glass is a heat shield.
I went digging around in mine today too. As of now I'm putting my car back together, I'm ordering a PMB. I think longtran has been innovative, I'm not going to try to come up with the solution myself. Not for $35. Good luck poldim, keep us posted Here's a few crappy pics of my own

This is in no way an attack on longtran. I took my car apart and posted pics to inform other people of the setup to give them an idea of how it works.
I made an LED setup with two LEDs in series with a resistor. I wired this us to the original wiring and instantly got a fault when I turned on the ignition. Without knowing the power draw of the original bulb, I cant even try to get a resistor in there to fool the car into thinking its still a bulb. I need to get some more info on the brex kit...

yo poldim, since you seem like a electrical guy, have you done the turn signal mod?
where turn signal stays off when angel eyes are on, but it still blinks if you turn on the blinkers?

Pics of the Halogen bulb taken Apart
Here are some pics of the Halogen bulb in the chrome casing, taken apart. The black part is melted/bonded to the chrome casing, once you destroy the part holding it together....
It removes and then the bulb can be removed by simply pushing down and twisting out. It is just like a normal tail light bulb just a lot smaller. I'm trying to find a large LED that wil replace it. I just need to identify the size of this bulb. |
