Diverter Valves Volume Increased with Intercooler

Since changing to an aftermarket intercooler I noticed the stock diverter valves are noticeably louder when coming off the throttle after heavy load. I also have DCI for intake but didn't notice the volume change until after the intercooler. The intercooler is a Dinan intercooler. Anyone else notice this? My assumption is the boost transients are higher with a more efficient intercooler so theres more presssure at the diverter valves under high load??

I didn't notice a difference at all. Do you hear it under load, or only when you come off throttle? If you hear it under load, I would check to see if you have a leak somewhere.

I hear it only when I come off throttle after heavy load. For example 6k shift or letting off the gas in the higher RPM range. It sounds like a blow off valve.

I got the same from my VRSF Stepped 5" but i did the charge pipe at the same time so I'm not sure which one made the diverters more pronounce but they definetly got louder aslo.

A friend of mine told me that when he changed to a larger FMIC, he engine intake noise changed. He said it sounded more aggressive. He really did not expect any change, but the engine sound did change. I never seen anyone else talk about this. ?

There is more air volume to divert with the larger volume of the intercooler core.

My intake sound became much more audible with the FMIC and Charge Pipe upgrade that is for sure and in a good way! You can actually hear the turbos spooling up top now

I think you hit the nail on the head. That makes total sense to me. Thanks!

Well, a more restrictive inter cooler will act like a muffler on the intake, so makes sense.
