What happens?

What do I get, plus and minuses, when I select Sport mode with the shifter (moving it to the left), and activating the Sport button.

Does one cancel or add to the other.

If I am not mistaken the Sport Button just makes it quicker on shifts. Moving shifter over makes the gear stay longer without shifting or redline.

This and the sport button has better throttle response too.

I never drive without the sport button on even when im in regular auto.

Thank you for your responses. So activating both has only a positive affect with no negative impact?

The negatives of either and both are worsened fuel economy and increased wear on the engine and accessories.

The n54 and n55 need to be shifted at a higher rpm. Low rpm , high load situations ( like cruising around in D) causes excessive carbon build up in the intake ports. So driving around in sport prolongs engine life.

I've been doing my engine good and driving it hard, score!!
Can you please elaborate on this? Does it have to do with the fueling or air coming in that gives this a sort of cleaning effect?

I am sincerely asking to be educated here.
