Audio upgrade
My 2010 135i is equipped with the basic stereo system (no tweeters). Has anyone here successfully retrofitted the Harman Kardon setup from the better equipped E82's (including the amp and the speakers)?
I'd like to improve the sound quality while keeping everything looking stock. Thx, Dre |

I don't see a screen for the tweeters.
That kit does look pretty badass though. I'd love to get some better sound in my cabin. I wonder how much the standard sound system weighs vs this upgrade though...

Awesome! Thanks for the replies - exactly what I was looking for. $500 for the kit is not a bad deal but I wonder if the necessary coding can be done in the U.S. since this is an euro kit not intended for sale her in the U.S.

Currently $362.29 from Schmiedmann (see my thread for details) + freight. Not sure about getting the coding done in the US, but I think I've heard about people getting it done. I would ask your dealer or indy about first, then buy the kit if they seem amenable.

The kit is not heavy. You're pretty much just adding the weight of the amp, which has a dedicated spot in the trunk.

I'm not sure if linking other forums here is allowed so I won't go there but reading someone else's write up on this Alpine stereo upgrade in the e90 forums. The poster had the coding done (in the UK) however questioned whether or not it was even necessary. Apparently this is done just to flatten the sound output which perhaps could be done by simply zeroing out the professional radio's built in equalizer...

I bought an early 2011 135i vert, production date 2010-07-14, with HiFi, or option 676. I've got an intermittent buzzing coming from the speakers even with the audio off. I was also thinking of a minor audio upgrade. Would the Alpine HiFi Retrofit Kit be a worthwhile upgrade? Or is the Bavarian SoundWerks Stage One upgrade better?
I'm just unsure which amp, if any is in my car. John

I've got it too, but I'm not ready to dish out 400+ on a new HU. |

The extended warranty I bought with the car covers the OEM radio! I normally shy away from extended warranties but decided to buy one this time as the car was previously owned. So far, money well spent. John
