If the S65 will, this makes zero sense. This story insists on persisting though.

So, I guess they got a return and profit in just one year.

I don't think it matters what MY it is if you really want one, but that said, I agree, BMW would have nothing to gain by saying "Oh yeah, we'll build some 2012 1M's up till 6/2012 when E82 production actually ends. Why not?" They want maximum hype today and for as long as possible, which is nothing but smart marketing if you ask me.
I amend my position once again back to believing there will be no 2012's once it's January 1, 2012 and you can no longer order one. Or until there's an actual press release from M division stating such (which if you look very closely, this is not. It's merely a teaser production schedule they dangled out there to leave the door wide open for innuendo and interpretation, which BMW knew everybody would have a field day with.) |

If the N54 can be built in MY2012 (which it clearly shows for the 335is) why wouldn't they do it for two years? |

A lot of models are missing, such as 116i, 118i or the complete diesel range (335d etc).
I would say that this table (in english and not in german) is 2012 BMW NA program and therefore not a valid source of information to confirm that we, rest of the world, won't see a 1M in 2012 They might stop the NA/USA 1M production (due to the N54 issue) but I doubt that Europe won't see any 1M in early 2012 .. at least we can hope. |

Well at least we know only 450 coming to the UK and they are nearly all sold and will be delivered as 2011 model Should guarantee great second hand value given speculation M2 is a long way away. Also maybe a bit of a clue that no 2012 model

Here's the other side of the coin: if BMWNA knews for absolute certain today/right now they will not be making any 2012 1M's, why not just come out with it and build the hype even higher to drive today's interest and prices up? (ie; "no 2012's! 2011 or bust!")
To the best of my knowledge, they haven't done this, because doing so would make them look like liars being purposefully deceitful to mislead people, (if they did in fact make a 2012 car), and they're not going to go that far and risk ill-will with outspoken niche buyers who would absolutely call them on it. |
