Motorway driving

Has anyone else been tailed by Focus ST's on the motorway ?

Why is it always a Focus ST? This must have been the 4th time this year one has been up my backside. This time I slipped down to 4th and floored it and left him there but then got conscious of the speed I was going then slowed down. The Focus caught up, I pulled over and let him go, then I see him waiting on the outside lane for me. I didn't rise to the occasion due to the fact I know the police frequent this road and decided to pull back on the inside lane and let him go.

I realize the Focus ST is a quick car but surely these guys must know the differences between these cars. I don't want to lose my licence to prove a point.

Be interested to hear others comments on similar situations.

Esscolab,

Happened to me a few times, with similar results.

I'd be careful though as there are several un-marked Police focus ST's used by Essex constabulary. I saw a silver ST with lights on when I was travelling on the A12 South-bound toward Colchester a few weeks a go.

Mad.

Mad

Duly noted, have not seen one on the roads but have seen a couple of Police Subaru Impreza's flying around the A12......

Perhaps I should nip down to Halfords and get some lights on the top myself

Seriously though, I think I will de-badge mine next week, fed up of the die hards having a go...

I haven't experienced the ST problem personally but I did upset a young lad who was showing off to his mate in a snot green RS last week. I had my wife and niece in the car, it was priceless!

I would have loved to have seen that. Being in Essex i'm afraid nearly every other car is a Focus ST or similar ilk.

Watch out because the Police also use Focus ST's undercover on motorways.

Another top pick seems to be 330i Saloons.

I had fun with an R32 the other day, left him for dead 3 or 4 times

Also had some fun with a 335d saloon but couldn't shake him... until an undisclosed speed... but not sure if he gave up. It must have been remapped as I couldn't gain through 3rd and 4th.

The R32's sound good, when I drove one I found it run out of puff just when you need it.

I heard the 335d's are impressive, the torque apparently is a killer.

Hello, I work in the response police team in West Mercia, and there are now unmarked R32s AND focus ST's.

No, im not like that. BUT there are people that will do that just to get you to re-act.

They ALL have a central mounted camera (just under the rear view mirror). Most pro-active cars are 2up. There / their EASY to spot.

Not at night

The baiting bit is really unfair... happened to me in my old S2000. On a really wide NSL single carriageway A road. Came up behind a Vectra SRI doing 45mph, took him on the roundabout but he decided to nail it, needed to do 85+ to get past then I was slowly backing off and he did me for 80 in a 60 Gutted.

He asked me why I was speeding and I asked him why he accelerated so hard coming off the roundabout after doing 45mph... he didn't answer. The only saving grace is a dual carriageway was coming up and as it was 11.30pm I was going to nail it and no doubt to 100mph+ so in a way he saved me from a ban!

Not sure why you feel you need to 'prove a point'. I save my racing for track days and if some scrote in an ST wants to overtake I let him (and it's always a him!) go!

Seems like an old topic but not much going on in the UK forums.

Anyways I have been up and down the M3 every day for the last 3 years and seen all sorts of under cover police cars, one of which was a skoda, and also many st varying from black, to silver to even the nasty orange.

Although driving on the M3 towards the M25 each day there is rarely an oppurtunity to put your foot down.
