Then why did u give your baseless comments in the first place?

You have yet to clarify what pads and fluids you ran?

An advanced driver will burn thru the stock brakes on track quickly. If you are burning thru upgraded pads and fluids, you are probably overbraking and dare i say 'slow' on track.

Since picking up my 1M in July, I've done 18 days on the track at VIR, Summit Point (Main and Jefferson Circuit), and Barber Motorsports Park.

Been running Motul RBF600 brake fluid and PFC-01 and 06 pads. Wouldn't consider running hard with stock pads.

Brakes are excellent and I've experienced no fade.

I do, however, want to add some cooling to the front rotors in order to extend pad life and am looking into backing plates.

Any preference between PFC-01 and 06? 06 is an endurance version of the 01 right?

Mark -

PFC-01 have more initial bite, but I prefer the 06 pads since they last approx. 50% longer.

Getting a little OT here but have you found someone carrying 06 pads for the 1M? I've only seen the 01 pads available; I'm using them too but just wondering.

EDIT: Just saw the post of your track picture. I guess you have found them.

raceshopper.com is currently the only outfit that has them.

BTW, picture of braking power with PFC-06 pads from this past weekend at Summit Point:

Castrol SRF and Carbotech XP8, I`m not saying that with a different pad combo it would be the same situation, maybe there are better pads out there, but with these pads and a bbk on my previous trackday car (Evo IX with ~400bhp) I had no complaints at all.

XP8 may not be enough pad.

Before switching to Performance Friction pads, I ran Carbotechs on my supercharged '99 M Coupe. IIRC, I ran XP16s in front and XP12s in back.

Either Motul or SRF brake fluid will absolutely not boil as long as its fresh. For pads PFC-01 or -06 are the best in the business for BMWs.

With either of those fluids and pad choices you will not boil the brake fluid and will have extremely reliable braking on track.

All of this is my opinion of course but I've been in many dozens of BMWs as well as other cars on track for over a decade now. I base my statement on what I've learned and experienced in that time.

Neil, are you using the same compound front and back?

Everyone else, what compounds are you using front and back?

not to resurrect but I believe IND has some carbon cooling plates for the front brakes. Pricey but look pretty sweet

What would be a good pad upgrade for fast road use only?
