If not a 1M then what????

I'm one of the unlucky ones who came ohhhhh soooooo close to getting into this amazing 1M coupe only to have the rug pulled out at the last hour. The CA told me we could do a screaming below invoice deal on a new M3 but after falling in love with the 1M it just doesn't feel right. So if not a 1M then what else even compares?

See if the CA can do that screaming deal below Euro Delivery invoice. That wouldn't be a bad deal at all.

Uff, sorry to hear about your situation. Really sucks that you came so close yet it didn't materialize once the clock struck midnight.

As far as 'what else', it is a fairly open ended question. Do you need a daily driver, does it have to be a coupe, how much do you care about practicality, import vs. domestic, what are your budgetary constraints, etc. Most comparos have the 1///M against the likes of a Cayman S/R, TT RS, Evora S, 370 Z Nismos, Mustangs, etc. but this list may not include anything of interest to you.

How much is money a factor? I was thinking GT3 RS if my M didnt pan out

Do you need to purchase now? Hold off and see what the next M3 or the M2 turns out to be.

Or check around for dealerships that have the M in their showroom

TTRS? Although it is more expensive

Ummm struggling to think of something in a similar price bracket that has the BMW quality, the 1M performance and practicality....

depends.... the 1M is just an extra toy car for me. I already have my DD (GTI), winter car (H3), and track car (S2000).

If the 1M fell through i would do one of the following:

1. 08 SRT 10 Viper
2. sell the s2000 & get the Ariel Atom 2 or 3. Only problem is id have to pay cash and insurance is a hassle.
3. Wait for the '12 Exige S
4. Maybe Cayman R if i really just get impatient.

I always wanted a Viper, since I was a young teenager...now that I can afford to buy one, it's not really my cup of tea; however, I still love the car.

I think you and I have pretty similar tastes in cars, considering my love for the s2000 and how much I miss mine

By the way, there is a sweet 06 srt-10 in my area going for the price of a 1M. I thought about it hard, and the 1M still comes on top for me.

A screaming deal on an M3 would have me very interested. Take one for a test drive.

haha we think very alike!

Your reasoning is exactly why im considering the Viper. It's just something i grew up loving. However, ive never driven the Viper. Im taking it for a 1 day test drive this saturday. I figure im either going to love it or hate it. Ill love the power but the dimensions might make me hate it. I love small cars. S2000 and my friends Elise SC is what i drive most of the time when im not going to work.

Honestly ive thought about selling the s2000 but everyone i know who has sold the s2000 has missed it. And with the amount of $$ ive sunk into it, it's not worth selling it just to get maybe $20k out of it. Id rather just keep it as a fun/cheap toy. Tracking the s2000 and using as a summer car is much cheaper than almost anything else. Track insurance/tires/maintenance is much cheaper on my s2k.

i found a 08 snake skin green coupe SRT10 for 59k... It was hard saying no until i figure out what happens with the 1M.

That new exige S is calling my name tho
I think once the GTI goes back after the lease is over id replace it with the Exige S.

BTW 1seriesStud i might be sending the s2000 down to West Palm Beach Florida next spring (opening a business down there). Maybe we'll arrange a meet down there and u can borrow the s2k. it will be sc'ed again by than.

I'm thinking a below invoice E9x M3 ... Well you could do worse and it's hard for me to imagine that one would be too disappointed with one. Have you heard hat engine lately??? (Although, the RS4 is even more butch.)

Other cars I was considering were: E46 m3, CPO RS4, S4 ...
