Dyno recommendations for Southeast PA? Also 2 places to AVOID...
I'm over an hour north of Philly and would like to get a recommendation for a dyno with a team that has experience with our cars, or at least BMW in general.
Today I went down to PSI "pro"formance down in Lansdale (http://www.psiproformance.com/index.php) and walked away without actually getting to do any pulls. With a scheduled appointment for when the open, they were all late, a lot of smoking around my car, and stopping halfway through strapping down my car to discuss problems another customer was having who did not have an appointment (it shouldn't take 6 guys to talk to 1 customer). They also didn't know how to hook up my car to their computer to get anything besides a HP reading - not even torque or RPM, what good is that??? They said they could charge labor to poke around and figure out where everything is. That's when I left. The facility was essentially ever bad back-alley stereotype you can imagine. I would NOT recommend this facility. I also tried getting an appointment with R/T Tuning also in Lansdale (http://rttuning.com/), but I was hung up on once, then on my second call the "call back soon" happened 2 days later.

Thanks for the recommendation! I sent them an email today and I'll probably follow up with a phone call tomorrow if I don't hear back....looks like they have a few recommendations on these boards

Dyno appointment made for Monday Sept 10th at 2 PM. Who knows, might run into some other members! I'll update my dyno experiences afterward. Noted over the phone that they generally work only with turbocharged variants, and don't really stock anything for the NA Their hourly rate is very good for the area, so I might have them hang my exhaust.

Helix is good shop to deal with. I've had dyno runs performed there.

The guys at Helix did right by me. Friendly, professional, easy-going. Still need to scan the sheet, my stupid scanner won't work for me. I also had them install my exhaust while I was down there, they were able to fit me in for it last minute, no problem!
Honestly I hardly remember most of the day at this point, sorry I couldn't provide more details but the shop was awesome. I was so happy to show off my exhaust and dyno sheet that I ended up going to my best friend's place that night. We went to leave for dinner and didn't quite make it - link to m5board in my sig with what happened to him. I got my 128 the same day he got his bike, we were both happy. Meh I'll stop rambling.

Hey M3nt0s,
Happy to hear you had a good experience at Helix, The owner, Eric, was pretty impressed with the consistency of your 128i during the Dyno testing. See you soon, Rob |
