Rust on the hubs!
Hey people - I'm new here, took advantage of the economy - the car they were going to sell me with $400.00 off and charge me $65 for a tank of gas - I took delivery of on Saturday with $4,000 off + 2.9% Financing AND the tank of gas. It only took 7 months to get 'em to give in!
Anyway - the car is fantastic - first BMW. The question I've got is that there is a nice hub cover on the front wheels but none on the rears and this area gets rusty and looks like - well it looks bad. Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this? Or does the heat generated in that area make it an ugly necessity? Thanks for the help - glad to be here!

Hey man I had this problem.. I bought some rustoleum flat black paint and painted the hub on my rotors after taking steel wool and some bullfrong rust remover to the hub of the wheel...
This was a few months ago and it still looks pretty good (although I think I will need to re-paint again sometime down the road)

Thanks! I actually thought my car was missing a couple of parts. If they could do it on the fronts though why not the back? I'd purchase them if it was that big of a deal...

it seems your dealer tricked you bigtime..
this is a simple computation, without taking into account any compounding of interest. lets say you bought the car for 40,000 all inclusive. 2.9 is your apr which equates to $1,160 per year of interest multiply by 5 yrs equals $5,800 then they gave you $4,000 discount which leaves you $1,800 net plus the stupid $65 gas... total of $1,865. i dont understand why you didnt grab the opportunity when they are running the 0.9% just last month.. and they should not be charging you for a full tank of gas cost $65 |

!
I had no idea they were running a .9 special - that would have been a deal too. My finance charge is a little bit less than 5k though - I didn't finance 40k and actually put money into it. The gas was free - - I hate missing out on the better rate. But my credit union was quoting me in the 4s so I thought I was getting a better deal from BMW over 60 months.

I have been enjoying it - it's hard to feel terrible about being tricked when I went willingly ... ... anyway salt and weather is driving me bugnuts and the rest on the rear hubs is really driving me crazy.

I'm stationed in Germany, and we get fuel from AAFES' pumps. They are notoriously expensive because they're getting fuel from the German economy. Even at $2.28/gallon, a full tank (when pumping at empty) costs me about $35.00.
