ST Coilover spring rates/sizes

I've got some cheapo coilovers on the 1er, and I feel that the ride is too soft. I was thinking of changing the springs out for some Swift units.. I was just curious if anyone has done anything like this before? I know the ST springs are progressive, so the rates are pretty much unknown. Just curious what ID/length springs I would need, and what would be a nice aggressive spring rate for the 1er.

I'm fairly new to this chassis so unsure of what spring rates make it happy. I like a firm ride.. for example my E36 has TCK 450/500 and E36/7 has GC 440/650 rates and I love the way both of them ride. The 1 is just too squishy for me.. Thanks for looking, thanks for any help, thanks for telling me to search, thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Just keep in mind due to the motion ratio of the rear suspension, the front spring rate should be considerably lower than the rear to balance the car. With a near 50/50 weight distribution I'd suggest targeting at least *roughly* the same wheel rate which leads to a considerably higher rear spring rate.

I've seen many coilovers offer a closer to equal spring rate, which seems like a horrible idea with this chassis which is already hampered by understeer from the factory (for various reasons, like lack of front camber, soft front control arm bushings, and staggered tires).
