How much should I pay for this?

I currently drive an RX8 and recently I've been thinking about getting myself a 1 series!! It's an 2009 135i with the sports package, 33k miles on it, alpine white with coral red leather seats, the dealer wants 27k for it. The car is not a CPO. The title is clean however the dealership said the car had a slow impact accident to the left rear fender and bumper, but they fixed it without taking it to the insurance.

I do live 3 hours away from that dealership, so I don't want to drive 6 hours and not buy the vehicle. What do you guys think?

The obvious question here is with so few miles on it why won't they CPO it?
That would make me very suspicious. Maybe that accident wasn't as low-impact as they are telling you.

That is questionable but it is a private dealer that is selling the car. Does that make a differences? The dealership states that they had a professional inspect the frame and it was never damaged from the impact. So I'm guessing the impact wasn't too bad?

i would pass on that car. For $27k you should be able to find a similar car with similar miles without the accident.

Without seeing photos of the accident you are really taking their word on the extent of the damage and repairs performed.

If it is an 09, does it have any warranty left? if so, you could possibly negotiate the price down and get an extended warranty with bmw if you are really set on the car.

Yeah If its not a really great deal I would look for one from a BMW dealer and try to get CPO or at least an extended warranty.

ask a member in the area to check it out for you before you make the drive if youre seriously interested.

The car does have warranty left over on it.

"factory warranty with free maintenance to 5/18/2013 or 50,000 miles."

I gave the BMW dealership a call to see how often 1 series coupes comes in with coral red leather seats and alpine white exterior, and they told me it's pretty rare.

I would ask for photos of the rear quarter panel damage before even considering it.

There are plenty of better deals out there and you will find the color combo you like, just be patient.

Sports package or MSport? I think there is actually a big difference in value there for someone looking for that exact setup. Coral/AW/Msport (anthracite headliner and door sills). It seems much harder to find the msport package than the standard sport package, but i personally wasnt willing to compromise on the horrible beige headliner.

For 27k, i would consider it. I over paid (32k, non-cpo) for my 2010 135 with 24k miles, but i was ok with that because of the TIME left on the factory warranty. The problem with the "remaining warranty" is that its up in 4months. What sort of value is that? Not much and i would personally consider it out of warranty for all intents and purposes. Offer them 25k for it and say "good luck selling this thing in the next 4 months" considering your weather is similar to ours this time of year! You could also discuss the steps needed to get it CPOed through your local BMW dealership for another few years and 50k miles if youre worried about it. Just be aware that CPO is NOT the same as the 4/50k that came with the car. Lots of things arent covered and there is usually a deductible associated with repairs.

Thanks for the info b1aze. I have tried negotiating with them via email and they just told me to come down and talk to them. I offered them 25500. But I should give the bmw dealership a call and ask how much it is to extend the warranty on the vehicle.

It all depends what its worth to you really. Thats the whole car buying/selling game honestly. If it still fits your budget and is exactly what youre looking for, i dont mind paying an extra 1500-2k to not have to search Cars.com, edmunds, KBB and CL daily for new additions.

Are you set on a 135? What else are you considering?
