Just Want to say Thanks!!
I had posted a topic last week about getting a car for my college graduation present from my dad (I know I am a lucky guy)… Well my dad wanted me to get the G37s and he pretty much told me that we were not going to go the BMW route, because he thought the car would be going at a premium, and for some reason just had a bad attitude about BMW’s in general…Well I kept bugging him and then I showed him 1addicts.com and after he sat down and read over the forums for about 2-3 nights he unenthusiastically went to go test drive the 135i with me… HE LOVED IT… as a matter of fact we ordered one the next day and he even is thinking about getting one for himself. Get this…on the way home from the dealer he leaned over and said… “That car (135i) I think is a better car than my corvette (2008)”.
So I just want to say thanks because if it wasn’t for you and this awesome forum I would be just another driver in my G37 left in the dust by all of you and your 1ers. |

SWEET.....Congrats.........be very careful driving the 135. It doesn't like anything less than 80 mph........Keep a good hold onto the reins or you'll get yourself in big trouble.......cool...good luck

you are lucky to have such an awesome dad who is both open minded and giving.
When you get a chance try a local auto x with an instructor and keep the racing on the track. congrats and good luck!

You don't need one more nanny, and I was driving a '67 XKE when I graduated college so I can't throw stones. So I offer this in the sincere spirit of a fellow car nut with another few decades of experience:
The 135i is so not an entry-level car. These levels of performance surpass all-out racecars of just a generation ago. Other than the brakes, there are no performance limits of the car that can be safely explored on the street. On the other hand this is going to be one amazing track car. So the next step is to get your dad to host some father/son trackdays. A dozen days on the race track will have the beneficial effects of elevating your driving skills to something approximating the car's capabilities, giving you a sense of the cars limits, and surpressing the temptation to use the car the way it was designed on public roads!

Congrats for you... I was thinking you were 18 and graduating from High School at first! Now that would be insane!
Always wear your seatbelt, look both ways before crossing, brush your teeth twice/day, sleep with a lot of girls.

The car is so much fun driving fast, rowing the gears and going through the corners.

Don't know much about what cars would be classed with a 1er for One Lap but conceptually this seems like a potentially terrific candidate.
