SSK with alcantra boot and original knob?
I did some searching but couldn't quite find the answer to what I was looking for. Has anyone installed the ssk with the alcantra boot but kept the original shift knob? I plan on installing bmw's ssk soon but I really like the shift knob that came with my M-sport package. Pictures would be greatly appreciated!

i'm not too sure if anyone has done that yet, but probably not because the alcantara boot won't match the M knob (material wise) and the stock boot attaches to the M knob and the alcantara boot doesn't attach to the perf. knob so it might look kind of funny where the bottom of the knob meets the top of the boot. but you never know, i'm interested in seeing it...

It looks funny. Sorry, I don't have pics. I didn't think I would like the Performance knob, but its actually the perfect size and weight for the car. I've tried a 1 with the UUC ssk and my Performance ssk feels a lot better.

^I have a UUC ssk installed on my E30 and while the throws are very short it also takes a lot of effort to get it into a gear. I'm definitely going with the BMW ssk I'm just trying to figure out which knob to use. Thanks for your thoughts.

I think pretty much all ssk's will cause a little more effort when engaging gears. I would recommended getting B&M's ssk, it's the cheapest (but is also a great quality piece) out and i really love mine. I ran my stock M knob and boot for a couple months and had no complaints but I finally pulled the trigger on the performance knob and alacantara boot and I LOVE the way it looks and even more the way it feels with the weighted knob, shifts are more effortless.
