Dealer wants 20 grand over sticker!
my local bmw dealer has two m1's in stock for which they want 75,000. This is a dealership that me and my father have bought more than 1 car from. I understand that it's a limited edition car but for 20k over sticker they can shove it. my modded 335 will get me by for the moment

i have a pretty strong suspicion that these dealers are just trying to get what they can (hence the outrageous markups), but if they don't sell they'll just go to the dealership owners. I know that Hendrick of Charlotte kept one VO for his museum and personal collection.

Braman will take any offer over MSRP plus 10K or greater. Ask for Ariel 305-934-9362.

While I refused to agree to a premium while trying to find one, if I had it, I wouldn't part with it for a $20k profit either. This is an icon, and all 800 in the US should be cherished by their owners.

I also refused on principle to pay over MSRP, but now that I have it and have driven it...... I feel different. Is it worth $20,000 over..... probably not.... depends on your financial means.... but it delivers in every aspect.

well stated.... no.. I don't think I would sell mine for 20K profit either. That sounds like it would be enough to flip to a Cayman R... but I bought this as a keeper.... |

Unfortunately, with the good comes the bad. Capitalism has many good points but there are a few downsides and this is one of them. I doubt anyone will pay 20K over so engage them with an offer and if you can't find something better, they will call you. That is capitalism. Yes, it's offensive at first but you want the car right?
Finally, I don't mean any disrespect on the 135i, it is a great car and modded can be faster than the 1M but it's still not a 1M. By the time you add the big brakes, cut the body to fit aluminum M3 components, full lock rear differantial, boost the engine, put twin turbos instead of a single turbo, take out the sunroof and put a carbon roof or weld a steel top, buy wide body kit, 19" ZHP wheels, M3 interior bits you will spend more than the price difference of the 1M and have a warranty nightmare on your hands. My guess is that you are a normal guy like us and want something semi-reliable. If you were a gazillionaire, you would've just paid the 20K over. I remember the French guy on here that took the brand new 1M suspension off that the M engineers spent 2 years working on and testing at the ring and put some coilovers that were rubbing and making noise. He actually said he hated his car at that moment. Now you are talking about a 20 fold modification project to make a modded 135i to 1M. So time is running out, engage those guys. I know it hurts to deal with that crap because I had to do it several times over to get mine. You have nothing to lose in making them an offer and put a deposit on it. If they get 20K over, you get your money back. If not, you get a 1M with 4 years of factory warranty, service. Good luck to you....really, I have been in your shoes and feel your frustration, just trying to give you some perspective on the "modded 135" thing. Best wishes and happy new year. |
