Service intervals and brake pad replacement?
Hey Fellas,
1) How regular are your service intervals for your ride? Once every 15k-20k is pretty reasonable yea?2) Replacing brake pads... How much and after how many kms? Cheers

Oil service every 5,000 kms is cheap insurance.

OP, as most of the enthusiasts on here would encourage: try change oil a bit more frequently than the recommended intervals, even on the 125i.
5,000kms is a good interval and you don't have to go to BMW to do this, you can get an indy or someone with BMW experience who will use OEM filters and oil and you should get away for around $170. With the brakepads, your car should tell you when it's due but you can always visually inspect them to see how much meat is left. If going to an indy workshop you might pay $250 an axle for brake pads incl labour for OEM pads. Goodluck. |

I had to replace my pads @ 50,000km's and was going to go to the stock route but bmw wanted $414 for the front pads and $54 for the sensor. I tried a few shops from overseas and the pads were cheap at under $200 except delivery was more expensive than than the pads themselves, or the shops wouldn't have them in stock.
So I got some Ferrodo DS2500's for $280 delivered locally and shorted the brake pad sensor so it is always 'ok'

My rear pads were shot to hell before reaching 27,000kms. That was with a few track days, but also probably as a result of the eLSD braking the rears all the time.

Does anyone find they have to go in for a service multiple times each year as different parts trigger at different times throughout the year? Or would you pull forward replacing certain parts to avoid this or...?

BMW wanted $464 for the front pads and $65 for sensor plus labour. $900!! F#%K that!!!
Just ordered a set of genuine front pads and sensor from ECS for $200. I'll change the pads myself. Will only take 45 minutes. I change my oil every 4,000 and plugs every 7,500 but I'm anal when it comes to my cars maintenance. |
