Well after having the intake valves cleaned, catch can on back order from Mishimoto since the intake has oil residue in it. My car has the valvetronic servomotor tick and the gas milage is poor after one tank. The earlier codes of 2DCE and 2E0F have gone but cold idle on starts have been a nagging issue. After countless hours searching the web, it's time to replace the servomotor. Here in Canada we get shafted on parts, called the local BMW dealership for part cost, $541 for just the servomotor which the parts department guy mentions that it's a common failure (seems terrible). So this is my next part order! German Parts Canada has it on sale for just under $400, so I'll be buying it off them. Is VDO the only ones who manufacture this part? Also going to replace the seals when I'm in there.

Went out to measure my tires. Thought I'd be able to do the ol' get new tires from Michelin because they were under warranty and didn't even make 15k. Nope... not likely. I'll ask tomorrow but doubt it.

Tread wire is pretty uneven. It goes from outside to in for both rear tires: 4.75/32, 3.4/32, 2/32, 3.25/32.

So, I'm skeptical of my camber being overly aggressive because having 2/32 on the inside middle track and then 3.25/32 on the inside track seems weird but whatever.

Who knows. I'm sure they'll tell me I did something wrong and no go.

EDIT: Could be that I was overinflated and still have high camber, I guess.

That's over inflation. What're your tire pressures?

Last year, it occurred to me that a custom license plate might be a good idea. I logged on to the states webpage and started the process. Obviously these things can be thought out with caution or not. In my case, I was flooded with ideas.

Owning a 1er twin turbo is not readily identifiable to uninformed or non interested bmw followers so I wanted something to that reference. TwoTrbz was the final decision.

Almost 6 months after, I was leaving a parking garage and a Porsche owner rolled down his window and gave me thumbs up.

I lowered my window to say thanks but before I could say anything to him he stated, "wow man I love your plates... twat rubs!"

I looked at him confused and informe him that the plate as I proposed was "2 turbs" with a Z.

Needless to say...

I ordered new plates this evening lol

So long Twat Rubs

Got the deal of the century on Depo V2 headlights! My friend bought them for his 128, then is now selling his car so he said if I put his stock ones back on, helped him buy the new car (a manual M-sport 128i) and tossed some money his way, I could have them. Jumped on that deal right away.

I LOVE how that looks. It really updates the car - no more bargain bin BMW anymore (well besides the wheels). The angel eyes are gorgeous too.

At first I was slightly annoyed because, by default, to have the angel eyes on and no headlights you need to drive around with parking lights on. Dumb. But Carly fixes that real quick. You can just code them to come on as your DRLs (by default your halogen high beam is your DRL).

1 complaint is that the angel eyes flicker a little when unlocking the car (when the DRLs would fade on). The LEDs don't like the sine wave signal they're getting. If I were any good at electronics I'd build a PWM circuit, but oh well. Kinda gives it that "mean robotic turning on" look

Also I got to drive a bone stock, 128i M-sport manual with xenons and a sunroof delete.

wow. I can truly see where all my money went for mods. No short shifter, CDV delete or clutch stop. The shifting just felt sloppy. Also at stock power, with the 3.23 rear, it was so ungodly slow. Granted, we were 3 people deep, but still.

What color is the car? I've still yet to see another Black one in that spec.

Alpine white on coral red leather. Manual seats.

The interior does feel a bit bigger with the thinner roof and lower seats.

I had my airbag recall done today along with an oil change. It's the first oil change I've had to pay for.

Out the door in under 50 minutes. Props to East Bay BMW.

Very cool, I think I saw someone posting about that car. Glad to see it went to an enthusiast.

I love the little bit of extra headroom, makes a big difference in the small chassis.

The hunt continues for my 6MT M Sport Slicktop twin

I wish I could've gotten my 1er without a sunroof. Hardly ever use it so I think it's a waste. Don't think that was an option for the 135i (sunroof delete), at least here in the US.

Changed the oil. 80,600 miles.
Castrol 0w-40 Euro, and Genuine filter.
Which is a Mann HU-816 BMW.

Also did an engine de-grease and pressure wash, hoping to remove previous oil leak residue so the current one can be diagnosed.

Had a fun weekend with a good friend, did a very serious detailing and some other stuff on the 1er and his brand new WRX.
  • Electric cutout install (DIY here)
  • Debadged both of our cars, very much happy with how the 1er looks without the lettering on the trunk.
  • Full interior and exterior detailing.
  • Applied CQuartz to both of our cars, very impressed by this stuff so far.

^Matticus91, the car looks amazing, and now sounds amazing! I wanted to do that to my 128, but I was fearful of the cutout motors breaking (I've read about a reputation). I want to do noweeds exhaust diverters, having one side go through the stock muff/res, and then the other side a straight pipe bypassing the muff and res, to exit out the other side of the rear bumper, in a quad tailpipe setup. I could open 'er up for backroad blasting, track driving, and car meets, and then close it on the highway, through neighborhoods, and near cops!

Things I did to my car today/this past weekend...
This weekend, I rebuilt the parking brake. I have a newfound appreciation for disc brakes.
Today, I re-adjusted it because I bedded-in the shoes, and therefore made it completely useless.
I also scientifically measured the noise that has been driving me CRAZY for the past 3+ months, in 5th gear at 2000 rpm the cabin is dominated by a ~30Hz tone, at 2500 it's a ~40Hz tone, at 3000 it's a ~50Hz tone. This means it is something to do with the driveshaft, as the frequency coincides with what I calculated a driveshaft-based noise would be. I checked, there is no noise when I spin the driveshaft while under the car, and the guibo looks in tip-top shape. It could be the center bearing, as I have read that they tend to fail. But, I didn't feel like pulling everything, when it could just be my tires, which have been chewed up by HPDE weekends this year. This noise has made an enemy of me... I shall (eventually) be victorious!
I'm looking forward to NASA's Fall Finale at Summit Point on November 11-12, 2017. Driving in HPDE2 this time, with much more camber, no blown shocks, and big brakes.
The fun is unending...

Thanks man! I am also a bit worried about the motor but I figured if it goes bad I can disassemble the thing, figure out what kind of motor it uses, and order/install a replacement. Even if I bought and installed this kit 4 times over it will still be cheaper than the QTP offerings!! It's really nice having the option of loud and quiet, in the few days it's been installed I've used it to sneak past a cop after a WOT blast, appease the wife, and enjoy loud noises around town while saving my ears on the highway lol.

As for your vibration issue, any number of the final drivetrain components could lead to some noise like that. Do you have another set of tires you could swap out to test that theory? Certainly the easiest one to address lol

I do have some winter-certified all-seasons (I know, I know) that I'm going to swap onto my current wheels after the track day coming up in November. These summer tires have served their purpose, and were a mere $59 per tire. I think they could very possibly be the cause.
I agree with not getting the expensive cutouts, especially when you can easily rebuild them. I really want to make my muffler quick-disconnectable for the next track day. Mwahaha! I'm tired of my dad's turbo GTI making more interesting noises than my car.
I have some Style 256's for sale. $400 OBO. Include 3 good Goodyear Eagle LS2 Runflats. 1 of them was severely punctured and needs replacing. Wheels are round and balanced, look okay, and would make good winter wheels, or beater wheels.

Looks very nice! I think you should wrap the wood. That's just me, though.
