Getiing Dunlop Direzza SS for autocross, what size?
My brother and I will be getting a new set of tires for his 135i. They will be mounted on Kosei 17x8.5 et 40. We're choosing between 235/45/17 and 235/40/17 both Dunlop Direzza SS.
Any good reason to choose one set over the other? The 45 series will be cheaper by $28 for all four, so it really isnt a deciding factor. By the way, this will be on a stock car, so 235 is the widest we can go. |

235/40/17 is the correct size.
45 has a tall sidewall and it will flex a lot more. the 40 sidewall will be better for gearing on an autocross course as well. The only time 45 sidewalls are used on 17's in that width are on a 5 series

Thank you very much! If my brother decides to "mod" his car, we'll surely be in touch for those ARC-8 wheels...hmmm 255s and 275s
