Do any of you run ethanol free gas? I do and seem to be getting better mileage. I live in a very rural area and the trips I've taken (had to fill up with ethanol gas while away) have been with little traffic at 65-70 mph and I see 30-32 on the highway. The town I live near has 4 traffic lights to put things in perspective so even my "city" driving is really more like highway driving but I still average 25-27 when I'm not on a highway trip.

^ ethanol has a lower energy density than gasoline, it will always reduce your fuel economy (its higher octane rating obv has performance implications though)

Is it weird that I don't really care? The OBC tells me right around 20 with mixed driving. If I am being careful on a long drive I have no doubt I can get over 25. Around town I am below. I drive it every day, usually get on it a few times a week.

Didn't buy this car for fuel economy, but its nice to know it can do well. Great all around car!

Exactly why E85 is not really an advantage.... 15% lower price... 15% lower fuel economy.

haha, thats really why i asked, im more interested in what kind of fuel economy results from driving however the hell you want to. really for comparisons sake. for such a car 20+ mpg avg/mixed seems pretty damn good. great all around car indeed! thats whats drawing me to it (practical, track/lap ready, daily driveable, and free/raw enough to open up and just have fun when you want). too bad im going to have a hell of a time finding one in about a year when ill be ready to purchase. trying to get my hopes up about the M2....

the ramping of ethanol production is/was stupid for a great many reasons, lets not get into that haha
