Why rebadge? It makes no sense, only shows one's insecurity. After all you spend on making your care a M clone, the money could be saved for a down payment on a real M, or you could by a used one. It's amazing what you can get at police and Fed auctions... |

Saw a brand new (with dealer plates and the sticker in the window) 135 with a ///M badge the other day. Looks like the dealer is rebadger. The ultimate fail!

Would I ever consider a convertible? No. Do I understand its appeal? Yes.
If they build a vert, and you feel convertibles are stupid for performance cars, then don't buy the vert. But don't bash the kid for wanting a Badarse convertible. Same goes for the DCT V Manual agrument. Would I ever buy DCT? no. Do I understand it? yes Please stop bashing others for wanting/not wanting different features on their prospective cars. Actually do what you want, it what makes a forum a forum. Yes, some 135i I saw when I was in South Africa had M badges on them, both on the road and sitting on the lots.

What's that? A rational and level-headed perspective?? An expectation to actually think about an issue from perspectives other than my own? That's just ridiculous. Anyone who doesn't like the exact things that I like for the exact same reasons that I like them is either stupid or ignorant. *sarcasm intended, in case it wasn't obvious enough* |

The thread has been cleaned up. I'm getting tired of this coupe vs convertible nonsense. Everybody please accept the fact that some prefer convertibles over coupes (and vice versa) and move on. Needless to say that any further attacks and insults are subject to infractions.
Best regards, south

Next out of line personal attack gets thread locks immed. Lets keep this forum informative, and as friendly as possible. Opinions are like rear ends, everyone has one, it doesn't mean you have to like them or agree with them.

So how does that impact "M-pure"? I hate to say it but it looks like M stands more for marketing. It seems that BMW is blurring the lines.

As you said, it's a Sport Package line, all manufacturers have done this. Chevy and Ford were known for this since the days of the 40s. I drive a IS300, and thar is what it is, no more or less. Even if I do a 3.4 stroked kit, it will stay as a IS300...I am not ashamed of what I have, nor should I be...especially of a car that outhandles a E46 sedan (but has a punishing suspension and pot holes constantly eff with the front suspension). People get caught up in what a car speaks about the person...if you don't have the funds, you don't have the funds, and whoever you are trying to fool, will sooner or later know that... I just don't like rebadgers. I saw one time a woman with a 1st gen SLK with a "SLK430" badge, there was never a SLK430. And I've seen Hyundais rebadged as Jaguars. There is a dude on YouTube who has a 6.0 liter 8 series and he has a ///M badge on it. And I got into a argument on another message board because, a pic was posted of a CL55 AMG, and it was not a CL55 AMG, it was rebadged as that, and the person was adamant that it was (somehow he didn't realize that AMG has quad exhaust tips, and diff wheels and brakes, and body kit). To me, rebadging speaks of a incessant need for attention, ego massaging, and un-adulterated insercurity, like people who drive Enzo bodied Fieros. Last edited by IS3andME; 09-15-2010 at 08:41 PM.. |

Please lock this thread already, and start a new one or something. It started to become really painful to read. Thank you.

That's my point. It's not an m car so why does it have an m on the steering wheel and the shifter? I'm disappointed in what the 1M turned out to be after all of the hype and anticipation |

All I know is that it was Artic Silver, had dealer plates, had a dual exhaust and had a ///M on the back where my former car said "135i". After seeing it wasn't a sneaky 1M I focused on the F430 with the Tubi exhaust that was behind me as we barrelled across the Roslyn Viaduct on our way to the Americana Mall. He had no need to rebadge his car.
