summit point march events, who's in?

ok guys the track season will officially kick off for us mid atlantic enthusiasts (minus chris, already kicked off last weekend ). week of 3/10 will be a scca event and the following week there is a pca event. I am shooting for 3/10 barring a wet weekend otherwise I'll try the following weeks event. calling out to all local enthusiasts to come out and shake off the winter blues and try the new mods.

I'm heavily leaning to the march 10th weekend (just after my bday ) depending on weather. Trying to keep an eye out for weather and do a last minute registration.

I'm planning SCCA 3/10 and Potomoc PCA 3/31.

I'll still have imploding brakes 3/10, and then start using something better 3/31.

Gary, good to hear there's another one late march. weather will be tricky but let's hope we get lucky. didn't you switch to race pads and rotors?

I've got RB rotors and DTC30 front pads. I've never done any work on a car before, so I'm doing a DIY event with BMW club on 3/17 to get some practice swapping the pads and rotors, and then I'll start changing them at the track. Later this year I'll start using r-comps, and then I'll switch to DTC70/60 pads.

sounds like a good plan Gary. swapping brakes and rotors are not difficult but just time consuming. you should figure an hour for a swap and another hour swapping back to your original setup. I'm too lazy to go through that every time

I personally switch pads/rotors a couple of days before the track and drive there. Never felt comfortable switching at the track.

Hawks are on now from the last event, since I have three this month (March) .. Hopefully weather permits

Gary...swapping the fronts is easy!! I did all 4 corners on my car including jacking up the car in 30 mins at VIR...fyi with the new hawk pads and rb rotors you'll need to file off a bit of material...especially if you're running the ti shims. Just my experience there.

Going to try stock brakes and see how it works out. Right now leaning toward the Audi event (it's less $) - would like to do both! Wife seems to disagree with that option. Never done an event with Audi before.
Gary - what event is on 03/31?
I can't get SCCA's website to let me register.

Joe, the Potomoc Porsche Club has a DE on Summit Point Main 3/31-4/1 for $275.

There's something wrong with the SCCA site. You should have Kim Dixon's emails from last year. PM me if you need her email address. I don't think I can post it here.

I just got RB rotors and will be installing DTC 70 front pads soon.
So, you are saying we still need to file off a bit of pad material even without ti-shims?
Sorry for the off topic question.
