Biggest pain in the bum from my perspective was getting the cable all setup and communicating correctly on the laptop eith 64 bit OS. NCSEXPER the program used to code doesnt work on 64bit OS so u need to run a virtual 32 bit windows. The coding part itself aint difficult.

To clear things up for other members yes you're right about it not working on 2010 models but only as is. Ie it will work with cars up till 2008. If you want to code newer cars especially ones with the newer CIC (Current Idrive) you will need to remove pin 8, which most people do by just desoldering that pin. So if you need to work on all model years (1998 - present) then a good idea to buy a cable with the adaptor that you mention, however they are more expensive. If you have newer models 2009+ then just desolder pin 8. However for my purposes all 3 of my cars are 2008 and older so this cable should be fine. Cant wait to start with the tinkering! Especially the option to tie in the sunroof with the rainsensors so that the sunroof closes when it detects rain, and in this respect I am hoping it can be done for the convertible top too. |

I just found out my R32 has this feature using VAGCOM, check off a few boxes in the coding for the rain sensor function so it keeps the sensor active for 24 hours and will close windows/sunroof once it detects rain. After 24hrs it will roll up windows and S/R and shuts down the sensor down to safe battery drain. Hope we figure this out for the 135 - I'm in for a cable to make a few edits

Successfully coded the 135i today removing Idrive disclaimers, komfort key eject and digital speedo. It did return errors at the end of the coding process due to connectivity, but i think it was something to do with hav ing the procede on the car as well, cause the coding worked fine even with the error.

Can the coding remove self check on LED lights. Just recently installed LED light but the system is doing self check when ignition is on causing flickering, nothing major but annoying. |

Today i coded in the Angel Eyes to a higher brightness, not max as it will go, but they are set to default "level 4" (wert_04) and i bumped it up to level 7 out of 9. Looks really good now.
For those with piggies, i put my procede into "passthrough" before i began coding and i didnt get the connection errors i recieved before, so im guessing that had something to do with it, or maybe completely unrelated....

Yep you can remove checks for globes... prvents nuisance faults for aftermarket globes, i assume thats what u mean? Not sure if it rectifies flickering, someone else may know...

Maybe we should catch up one day to do the coding. With increasing the level brightness from 4 to 7, will it stressed the angel eyes too much. I presume you are running Lux V3 at the moment same as me. |

Yeah running Lux, dont know about "wearing them out". I doubt it, brightness increase wasnt much. I dont know the answer though, depends on the quality of the LUX product i guess...

Woohoo finally got my cable after australia post had it for over a week and didnt even leave a slip!. Postage from UK was fast, 3 days I think.
Anyways followed the instructions but some of it was poorly written so took me a while to figure out where i was going wrong. After 2 hours of head scratching have managed to remove the idrive disclaimer on the x5 and activated the digital speedo. Alas have to put it down for now as have other things need attending to. |

I would give it a go but I have a feeling my cable wont work on cars with the newer Idrive. It needs a different cable or I would need to desolder one of the connectors - dont think it would be easy to then resolder!

An update to this thread:
I received my cable a few wks ago (works well) and coded my car today. Overall not too difficult although I got stuck before working out you had to upgrade the data files to access the CIC module for the idrive related settings. The coding I did: - Remove idrive disclaimer - DVD in motion (hardest part to do) - Digital speed display - Remove seatbelt gongs - Disable windows safety feature - Wipers complete motion to bottom when engine switched off - Windows and sunroof close with fob (was already on by default) - Mirrors fold in (I did this then realised my car doesn't have folding mirrors, it's an option with anti-dazzle mirrors) |

Can't be that hard, but I can't justify paying for a cable to use once, happy to flick some cash your way to borrow it. |
