Mfactory 6 bolt SMFW on 06/2009 N54 135i
So I picked up a lightly used flywheel for my 135i. 6 bolt, which matches up with my build date (02/2009 and onward had 6 bolt flywheels.)
What I cannot grasp is whether the pilot bearing that's in the flywheel already will match up with my input shaft. There are two styles and they seem to show up all over the place, on 6 and 8 bolt crank shaft flywheels. This style, where the input shaft goes into the pilot bearing recessed in the flywheel And this style, where the flywheel has a little "nose" on it that goes into the input shaft. Now, searching realoem, my 06/2009 diagram looks identical to a 2008 and a 2011, so I'm not really sure which style I will find when I drop the transmission. I referenced this thread http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1138684 , but cannot make heads or tails of what it means for me with an N54 with a 6 bolt flywheel. I am hoping that the 2011 n55 135i with a 6 bolt flywheel has the same pilot bearing and input shaft as a 2009 n54 135i. Can anyone say for sure? |

I have a 03/09 135i n54. I have the style in 2nd pic. 6 bolt flywheel that has the "nose" sticking out. Pilot bearing is inside the transmission input shaft. I just installed a mfactory smfw with a new clutch a month ago.
