I'll run you the #'s tomorrow. In reality, expect to pay nearly double for the headlights alone than you would have paid on the invoice ($800 I believe?). Plus labor to reflash the car to recognize that it has Xenons instead of Halogen.

i am also very interested in doing this. I would have had them built on there but unfortunately the timeline to where i needed the car did not allow me build my own. Either this or waiting for an aftermarket solution.

i think you may be waiting some time....
but if you do find a solution post it up here, as there are many, including me that would love to buy a simple cheap and effective angle eye/xenon conversion for halogen headlights. |

Don't just buy after-market HID kits, especially off of ebay. Use a known source like Umnitza.
Secondly, wait for them to come up with a solution for the 1 Series Headlamps if you do not want OEM. HID kits without the use of projectors are extremely illegal. They blind the hell out of on-coming drivers because the way the line bounces off of the inner-headlamp. They are not projected in the correct manner, and actually give less visability than halogen. Price for Xenons w/o Adaptive: List: $1048.46 ($524.23/EA) I can do them for $891.20 ($445.60/EA) Price for Xenons w/ Adaptive: List: $1335.32 ($667.66/EA) I can do them for $1135.02 ($567.51/EA) Remember, this is just the cost for parts. Your car must be reflashed to recognize Xenon instead of Halogen.

Thats were BMW seems to get you, no matter what if you try to something without going through the dealership they still hit you with the labor of reprogramming the vehicle. Anyway to do the reflash under warranty? Will a service center upgrade the car for free if a new build comes out?

Labor is the reflashing. It depends on the dealerships choice of labor rate. And they won't do it free

I have done many HID retrofits in my day, and putting rebased HID bulbs into a reflector based headlight (aka buying a eBay HID kit) is like driving around town with your Hi-Beams on all the time. When it is down correctly with projectors, you will get what is called a "Cut-off" This is what the end result looks like. First picture is a "ebay HID Kit". The Second picture is a HID Kit with projectors (Provides the right focus and cutoff).
