400hp

What parts would it take to get to 400hp with a Dinan stage 2 tune? Would it be posible to reach 400whp with the Dinan tune?

how about something that will have a chance at keeping the warranty in tact.

agreed, it wouldn't make much sense to shoot for 400 with a dinan tune. as soon as you add non-dinan bolt ons you're basically screwing the dinan and bmw warranty if something goes wrong. for some good power recipes I recommend surfing N54tech.

go with a Jb3 / dp's / midpipe / axle back / fmic and run a higher map 5 - 7 and you will be at 400hp. Not sure if DCI or drop filter will add much. You gotta worry about heat soak with the open dual cones and there are a LOT of guys running 400hp+ with stock air intakes. BMS has some dyno's showing benefit of DCI at higher rpms.

yes, an intake is necessary if you want to run the higher maps.

Dinan Stage II

I'm not quite sure of the total accuracy of that statment. Dinan Stage II gives you 384 HP, add their Intake your looking at about 396. I think purely just w/ the Tune no you can not hit the 400 HP mark. Your going to need a couple other modifications, i think adding the intake and a Intercooler you would get to the 400+. DINAN stuff is pricey tho, so if your looking for HP on the Cheap like others said the JB3 is your better option, but you lose your warranty. Personally i like the warranty peace of mind, and i may be adding the DINAN intake(only cause i have a 500 gift certf. from my dealer... they lost my stock exhaust when putting on the DINAN, so i got hooked up) I drive a crap load so My warranty is going to be gone b4 i know it anyway... I'll probably pick up an I/C from on of the more affordable after market options.

That 384 that dinan advertises is crank horsepower not whp like the op wanted to achieve. If you search the boards a stage 2 dinan car only puts out around 320-330 to the wheels.

My bad i only saw the HP not WHP... in that case yes that would be correct... most companies use the crank HP... i mean that car itself is 300/300 at the crank not the wheels. 400 to the wheels is going to take more mods indeed. Altho i find that it would be hard to keep that 400 on the street since just w/ the Stage II i spin out pretty easily, maybe once i upgrade to non-runflats that opinion will change.

400 WHEEL hp still isn't that hard or expensive to attain. JB3 plus a few supporting bolt ons and you're there!

Yeah 400whp would probably be pretty hard if you want to keep some kind of warranty. I have basically everything Dinan offers for power gains and I'm probably not pushing more than 415-425 HP at the crank. Lightweight flywheel may help getting more power to the rear wheels, but that wouldn't directly impact engine output.

yea summer time... got the 264's in the garage awaiting powedercoat and some fresh non run crap rubber... basically tho your talking about 500 HP (@ crank) to get 400 to the wheels, I don't see that happening w/ the DINAN tune w/o voiding your warranty. Even w/ every DINAN upgrade your not going to make that power. I'm just thinking from my perspective and after the tune/exhaust/intake i might be hovering around 400 crank, getting another 100 HP is going to be tough there isn't too many simple boltons left to get another 100.... unless I'm mistaken.

If you want 400 Hp and 540 ask Alpina to build you one or just get the parts of the Alpina B3 S Biturbo. In fact I think Alpina uses Noelle Motors tuning, who actually was Alpina Engine Department Boss.
