n54/55 Water pump question
Hey folks,
For the folks that have had the car for a while, do you notice that the Water pump will keep on running for 5~10 seconds consistently after every engine shut off? I am asking because I am now just past the 3000km mark and I notice that the water-pump buzzing noise after the engine is shut-off is NO longer here in the past ~2 days. I am concerned if this is normal or if sign that this is early sign of issue with the electric water-pump, or corresponding circuity. Thanks for your help in advance! G |

I normally (not sure if it's 100% of the time, but it's damned often) get noise under the hood for a while after I shut the car off. Even if I haven't driven it hard. I'd guess 5-10 seconds. I figured it was still cooling he turbo but that short amount of time makes me wonder how worthwhile it is.
It could be a totally different noise. I get various other things making noise as well, motors I guess for door locks or something. Car's possessed. Wish I could say if it's 100% of the time, without knowing that I don't guess it helps much. N55 BTW |

N54 here . . . the electric water pump will run for several minutes after shut down after the car has been driven hard. The turbos are water cooled . . . it acts as a built in turbo timer.
