Full Headlight Replacement

Hey All,

I wanna preface this by saying I'm brand new to the scene, just bought my first BMW - a black 2011 135i M sport. I have had it for about a week, and now totally understand why this forum is called 1ADDICTS - truly addicting to drive.

Anyway, my question is about replacing the halo lights on my 135i. The stock ones aren't the color I prefer. (I'm coming from an Acura TL, which has nice bluish xenon headlights stock) I bought 8000k headlight replacements and had no idea there was a separate bulb (again, I'm a total newbie) for the halos. Does anyone have suggestions on what I should do/ what brand halos I should buy?

I'm a little pissed off because today I went into DDM Tuning in San Diego to get this done, and they simply sold me the headlights and didn't explain that the halos were different bulbs... now I have mismatched regular headlight and halos... I made it clear I had no knowledge of this car, and not one of the 4 employees in the store even thought to mention this. Probably never going there again, they were nice enough, but maybe because they don't sell them they didn't want to bring it up and lose the sale? I don't know.

Anyways, sorry for the long winded post. But does anyone have suggestions? Should I replace everything? Where do I buy them? Know of good installers in San Diego?

All help is much appreciated! Looking forward to being apart of this community. Seems like a lot of knowledgeable people on here.

if you want some white halos you need to get LED angel eyes or hid angel eyes..do a forum and/or google search for them. they are conversion kits and run from $150 to $225 ish

For some reason this behavior from DDM is not suprising. The customer service I have received from that company in the past has been less than stellar.

Agreed I've used their products on previous cars. Their quality is so so for the price but their knowledge and service is terrible. Also their HID conversion kits are ok but I would not use their bulbs in a factory HID setup. I did this once and not only did they burnout quickly they also took out my ballasts when they went out. Not worth the savings on the bulbs. I would remove their bulbs and go with something quality like Osram, Phillips, or Sylvannia

Angel eye headlights are good but not sure it is compatible with your version of car or not. I recommend you Black LED halo projector headlights.

Check the products at luxangeleyes.com; they have a new version of their halo illuminators that are actually color-adjustable. I had their V3 version in my '07 E92 and they were really great. This new version with multiple color settings should allow you to get just the color you're looking for. Sorry to hear that someone misled you about the bulbs - the halos have always been separate from the main headlights. Later Xenons in 1- and 3-series BMWs came with LED illuminators instead of the halogen bulbs. The aftermarket halo halogen bulbs work ok, but they burn out within 12-18 months and are not near as bright as the LEDs.

Our kit fit the 2011 135 as long as they have xenon headlights and halogen angel eyes.
Same can be said about LUX, since we carry these too.

Our kit comes in 6000k white only.
Lux is color adjustable from 5000k to 12000k.

Our kit:

Just bought Lux V4's from you, Extreme Powerhouse - the "1000" coupon code from Facebook still works too! That's 10% off and still free shipping what a great deal!

Thanks for the info. like I said, I am new to the scene. Although that doesn't excuse my lack of effort in figuring it out myself! Kicking myself for that

I was surprised when I first saw the lights... such an ugly yellow hue. I made the assumption that the M sport 135i would have nicer crisp white or blue lights like you see on alot of the newer models (stock) I suppose that wasn't the case in 2011, oh well.

It's a bit frustrating that the 1er came about at the end of BMW putting in ugly halogen bulbs for the angel eyes and then never updated them to LED.
