2011 Autocross Season: Event 4 - The Song Remains the Same

9th in PAX, 14th raw . . . beat the WRX and Cobalt SS in DS stock. Need shocks and some A6s.

Observations:

How the hell did someone put 275s on those front wheels? I'm already rubbing the strut on the inside with 245s and it looks like I have zero space on the outside.

Keep it up, you'll keep improving.

I know Berk had to extensively modify their fenders to get 265 AD08s up front, but I'm with you on the clearance issues. 245s are about perfect for minimal hassle. Both of us can benefit from a suspension upgrade, as the stock shocks/springs are too soft for competition use. Your pics clearly display that!

I've never seen anyone race with the sunroof open. Hmmm. Moveable weight distribution, anyone?

I think I may be bumping along the performance ceiling with the current setup. There might be another half or one second out there if I drive absolutely perfectly.

I've swapped cars pretty extensively with other fast guys in the region. Without fail we all end up running about a tenth apart from each other.

Sunroof was open because it was hot, but I'm sure moving 50 pounds down an inch and aft of mid-line is good for a few hundredths

In that case, I agree, it's time to upgrade shocks and look into A6s. My car is really competitive on AD08s against r-comp shod cars, so perhaps consider them if you want to be able to drive to and from the track on them like I do. The stock suspension just can't keep up with the grip level, though.

Actually there is a fix for that. Call HPA and ask for the TCKline or AST Double adjustable kit, with the swift springs. Harold will help you with the details.

Just glad I can help!

Yeah, yeah.

You can really help by doing the install for me, including rear subframe bushings.

Unfortunately the fix for the overwhelmed stock suspension is a non-stock suspension.

I'm eyeing struts now. Probably just going to go with Yellows.

Way to Represent!!!!

When I raced last the WRX's were in another class, maybe weren't stock. I was surprised I ran faster since awd def can hold some lines. My only complaint is understeer but I just turned sharper and let off some, but for stock these race pretty easy!!

The 2011 WRXs are in DS. And they are bad ass . . . Subaru did a bunch of work on the suspension and made it so you can run some wide ass tires on them.

Yeah I hear you there, I had 02 WRX, 04 STI, then 08' STI. Crazy newer WRX's are faster 0-60 than the STI even. Def a Beast since they went to 2.5L 265hp gen!

I love my 135i, nice combo of Luxury and Power, w/ decent mpg to top it off!
