If anyone here knows of a solid car audio shop that's worked on your 1er, please let me know. I'll listen to the engine while it's warm enough to drop the windows, but I'm going to go crazy in the winter with these speakers!

Thanks for the info! I'll be giving them a call tomorrow for sure. I hope that a sedan won't cost too much more than that, but I'm expecting around $250. How dark are you going? I'm thinking 35% should be good for myself.

Remember 50% is the legal limit and you're just asking for a ticket if you go darker. Ive been pulled over for tint with 50% on a black on black car. Looks darker with a dark colored vehicle

I had a black car at 35% for around 7 years. I was probably pulled over 5 or 6 times in that period without issue. Right before selling the car, I missed a stop sign, got pulled over, and was ticketed for the tint. The officer said "We're not in Arizona, dumbass."

I'll likely go 35% again, on the off chance that I move to Arizona.

Did the officer actually say that to you? Kind of funny lol. I was running 20% on my old car though and in all the times I was pulled over they never said anything about tint. 35% isn't that dark IMO, so I'm willing to take my chances. Also I'm running out of country plates (Manitoba), so they're usually more lenient.

That said if anyone has the gloss black trim and wants aluminum, I'd be game for that swap
Tracer, do you have a carbon spoiler on the back? What rims are those? Daw you turning onto como the other day out for a walk with the boy.

Very likely me, yep. AW w/ anthracite wheels. I am always on the lookout for yours, just never see it. I head down Chatsworth a lot as well.

The wheels are the Apex ARC-8's, I really like them. Looks are a personal opinion of course but they are light and the offsets about perfect.

The CF spoiler as well as the window tint, short shifter and exhaust were put on by the previous owner, all BMW parts. He had tint film on the tail lights which I peeled off, decided I did like the look and had Raymond's spray on instead. I have some M3 bits in my garage but have yet to put them on. Hopefully soon! Just been busy w/ other stuff as I'm sure everyone knows the feeling.

There was a statute introduced recently that makes it a misdemeanor for tinting shops to even install anything darker than 50% in MN. If you have young children or are a decent liar, you can get a prescription beforehand for something darker.

Coming Your Way

Hey all!
Moving to Minneapolis in January from NC (crazy I know). Just picked up an '08 135i 6-speed, sports package. SGM with Coral Red. Previous owner had Agency Exhaust and Ingen turbo intakes installed, 335 HP overall. Sounds and feels amazing. I am addicted. Glad to see ya'll are here.

What do ya'll recommend for snow tires and winter ready supplies to keep in the car? I'm in for a frozen scare being from the south!

Sweet. welcome. just get dedicated snow tires and you'll be good. none of this all season BS. you need the real deal here. These cars are great with the proper setup.

If you're under maintenance you can choose between Motorwerks BMW or BMW of Minnetonka. If not there are a few indy shops in the area. I run 3 shops that are well equipped to help you out including half life oil changes even if you bring your own parts. let us know if you need help figuring things out on winter setup. all the guys here know what you'll need. I wouldn't even pass Chicago without a winter setup.

Thanks chow. I'll definitely get dedicated snow tires before heading up. We are passing through Northern Michigan for the holidays for a month before my new rotation starts so I will 100% need them, any brand suggestions? I have Nitto Neogen's and N555's right now.

Pretty positive it's not under maintenance, I've been taking my bimmers to indy shops for a while so it's no big deal. What's the name of your shops up there? I'll definitely make sure to bring it by for maintenance.

LOL, you won't be able to get out of your own way with those tires. I always run WinterSport 3d or Hakkapeliitta's but we've found you can source some great tires like General & Hankook at a real good price. A lot of guys copy tread patterns from the big guys & have been very successful at keep prices very low. Dunlop & Nokian are fairly expensive

Lots of good places in town including Imola, JB Eurotech, ORR & others. I run 3 BP service stations. They are not big powerhouse shops like some of the others but we do have quite a bit of ability to do stuff. Everyone has their favorite shop & that "it's the best" I've found whomever you develop a good relationship with & can trust is my favorite shop. The shop I office out of has been here since 1964 & my newest tech started here in 1985.

Most everyone on here will be able to point out their favorite shop. also depends on on where you live. Do you have a place lined up to live yet?

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll start looking around the internets. Looks like you got a solid business with lots of experience.

Waiting on the relocation company to contact right now. Office is in Minnetonka but we'd like to live closer to the city. Hopefully somewhere with a parking garage or some sort of covered parking. Expected to be a lot more $$$ though.

I am thinking of selling my snows: MSW Type 22's and Conti Wintersport... probably 1,300 miles as i purchased in January last year. let me know if interested in talking.

Think I will just drive my jeep or truck this winter and put the 135 and convertible at the cabin.

Could you post up some picks of the winter's? I'm thinking about getting a dedicated winter set and may be interested in buying yours off of you.

Scott, I have no personal experience with local powdercoating, but lots of friends over at the local club/forum Eurowerks.org have done so. You might search around over there for suggestions... maybe start with this thread:

I have found a good deal from a good vendor online (1735.00 out the door)but shipping may be a breaking point. I will R&R the diff and deliver the punkin and Unit. Thanks Jay

Picked up my 135 yesterday!!

Just wanted to say hi and check in on here. After being torn between an MCoupe and a 135 for quite some time, I finally decided and picked up a '11 AW/BLK 135 M-Sport yesterday. Such an amazing car so far. I can't wait to get some sticky tires on it and get a bunch of time behind the wheel this summer.
