Gill, ? about MT1s

Hey Gill -

Will the TR Motorsports MT1 (17x8.5 et 44) with a 5mm spacer fit over the 135i front calipers?

Yes, it fits over the front and rear brakes with a spacer.

Scott, mikeo found out that the rear caliper has a larger footprint than the front caliper. So fitment should definitely take the rear caliper into account moreso than the front one. (was surprising to me)

He bought 17" BBS RG-R's and the front wheels had ~5mm to the caliper, yet the rear wheels only had 1mm to the caliper.

Does the 8.5 width work for the front with this offset?

Actually, I do have another question (sorry) - are the lug bolt holes on the MT1s small like they are on SSRs where you need 17mm lug nuts?

On BBS CHs, we use 19mm lug nuts

Scott, they are the same as OE, which are 17mm, IIRC. And I think you will likely require a 5mm spacer in front to clear the strut.

Mikeo is right on each account. The bolt used is 17mm just like OE and it does take a 5 mm spacer front and rear to clear the suspension (I missed that the first time so I corrected the post above) The spacers are included in the price of the wheels.

Sorry about any confusion.

Hey gill I have a question about these in the 18x8.5 application for the Z4s- they are 18x8.5 et 44- and there's no 18 size listed for the 1, but the SSR type C RS, available in 17s for the 1er is 17x8.5 et 44, so I am thinking, will the MT1s with the same offsets and width, but in 18 fit out cars? thanks a lot in advance!

^^^^ i've been wondering the same thing... there shouldn't be any reason why the 17 would fit and the 18 wouldn't, unless the profile of the backside of the spokes is different on the 18?

Both 5-120 wheels we carry in 18” would be sticking out past the front and rear fender arches. The ET44 would be into the front strut on the inside as well. It would clear the rear but again, the lip flange would be out past the fender arch.

the only difference in specs is the diameter, right? (17 vs. 18). how would that have any effect on where the lip sits in relation to the fender? they share the same width and offset... shouldnt they still fit exactly the same if using the same spacer?
