Question What is the downside to m3 control arms

I noticed since installing them my steering is more responsive and accurate much like how my 350z was, what I don't understand is why do non sports cars have more vague steering?

I heard something about fatigue but if that's it I don't know why?

Added NVH is about all I can think of. It’s easily the best suspension upgrade you can do on this platform.

The only downside is they are $300 shipped from a vendor on here and I paid $340

These along with the rear subframe bushings are well worth it on the 1 series.

$10 x 100,000 cars means $1,000,000 less profits.

I haven't noticed any nvh though, I know they need to sell a 1M and M3, but I every non sports car from the mazda 2 to a mercedes has less pointy steering. So I wonder if some people actually don't like it. And if I would want it in a luxury car. Maybe it contributes to motion sickness or something?

Your question is somewhat confusing to me, but if you refer to decreased steering response in cars today, a lot has to do with the switch to electric power steering versus hydraulic power steering. EPS doesn't necessarily have "the heavier feel" and feedback you get from HPS, but it does improve MPG. Most enthusiasts complain about EPS and hate it (though, it is getting better as it is improved over time). The majority of people who drive probably don't know the difference, nor care.

Our 1-series is lucky enough to still have hydraulic power steering. Add M3 arms as well, and it gets even better for responsiveness.

My question is BMW aside because they need to gimp other cars to sell higher models in the series. Also EPS aside because what I have noticed has always been the case.

Companies like Mazda, Toyota, Ford etc, we know are all capable of making sporty, sharp, responsive steering. But why do they save it for their sports cars?

The sports car doesnt necessarily have to be the more expensive car, maybe I am wrong though, maybe the Mazda 6 has sporty steering.

I'm not sure I can agree with your statement. I've driven a Civic and a Mazda 3, which I would consider neither of them to be sports cars. Both had very responsive steering. The Civic did have 17" aftermarket wheels, which helped of course.

The steering on a Mazda 3 isnt unresponsive but its not sports car sharp, and the car has really good throttle response so its not like they wanted it to feel like a slow car.

K I can understand that, it is more touchy when driving straight but really no problem for me but I could see it not being a preference for a lot of people.

Every car doesn't steer like sports cars, because not every car is a sports car.

Obviously, Ford, Mazda, etc. are not going to take the time to engineer sports car steering in their family cars, economy cars, etc., because I doubt their target customer/demographic (i.e. not you) would want or need it.

I'd go with "not want". If they gave family cars more responsive steering, I'd think they'd get comments like "twitchy" or "lacks stability".
